Damn. Chinese axle? I know mine were yanked in favor of American axles. No worries but who is to say it wouldn't still happen. What rating are they? Mine are 3,500 pounders.

yup, 3500lbs chinese axle, but to give it credit, i've probably drug that thing every bit of 50,000 miles, lol! and i've had some serious weight on it before too. drug a full size 1/2 ton chevy from Birmingham, AL to Warner Robins, GA one saturday, lol.

ok ok, i know i have a tendency to get all amped up before the races and then i don't update till days after. that's definitely my bad. i tend to go race on saturday, get home late, and then do the church thing sunday morning, and normally am mowing grass and doing other honey-do's. then monday morning i get around to making a post. i'm putting together a video now. i'll get it together and make a post before i go to bed

I made 6 passes. first pass off the trailer i ran a 10.38 @ 132. car spun pretty hard, and went a 1.53 60'. i decided to up the air pressure in the tires to 13.5 and dropped launch rpm to 4700 from 5000. next pass the car went 1.47 and ran a 10.36 @ 135. i'm not convinced the MPH was good on that pass though cause i made 4 more passes, all in the 132 range.

DA was 2300' give or take all day. i realized a couple of things yesterday. 1, the car finally wants to wheelie a little. unfortunately that means the car redlights *easier*. 4 of 6 passes were redlights. the second thing is that i think part of my harsh clutch engagement has to do with air gap. i think i have too much (admittedly, i've never measured, but mainly cause i have no way to measure it easily) and the pressure plate is getting too large of a running start at the discs. solution? adjustable pedal stop i tried to manipulate this in round one (yeah, not a good place to try) and the car pulled the wheels, then bogged BAD at 4700 rpm 2-step. i think this may be a key part of getting this to work right. stay tuned for some mid-season fab in the pedal area, lol.

anyway, i bought back in after redlighting 1st round. i dialed down to a 10.35 as the sun went down. went something stupid like .189 green trying to stay green and the car ran a 10.351....but gave up way too much at the hit and couldn't get around him. oh well. i learned more, got more seat time, drove the car off the trailer when i got home and back into the garage. i'm happy, lol.

here's a compilation video that my wife took. only 3 passes, cause the other 3 were from the other lane, and she couldn't get a good shot of that.

oh, who says stick shift cars can't bracket race? i ran a 10.38, 10.36, 10.36, 10.39 (short shifted 1-2 accidently), and a 10.35, lol. the 5th run i didn't even log cause the bog was so bad that the data was worthless. car ran a 10.7x on that pass.

Thanks! i really think i've just about got a handle on it. gonna make a tire change, and probably a longer torque arm. the tires will be on the car for labor day weekend. not sure when i'll get to the longer arm. that will likely upset everything i've worked for so far, but will be worth the effort in the end i think.

it really is making the switch to the manual has obviously been very expensive, and the learning curve is STEEP, but this truly has been the best thing i've done yet for my program.

Sorry for giving you a hard time about posting....I know how hard it is with family.

That being said....Now that the tires are gripping, the suspension is working...you just need to tune the launch.
You still pulling timing in 1st ? How much ? maybe creep some back in ?
LOOKS a lot better...air pressure may need another pound or three ?

we are in .25 psi increments now, lol! 1 psi would be a huge move at this point. i am still pulling 2* at the moment. once i get the pedal stop thing figured out and get the air gap where i want it to be, i will start to mess with the timing again.

picked these up before i couldn't anymore. M/T Pro 5's. my wife and mine's favorite wheel on the market. they discontinued all the "smaller sized" rear wheels. basically anything 15" that was a rear, so right now they only produce the fronts, and the 16x16 double beadlocks. otherwise, they're gone. they're light....really really light can't wait to get the fronts, but that'll have to wait.
