Carb'ed 5.3L cuts out/bogs under heavy throttle
I have no clue to why this is happening. I have an edelbrock 650 carb with the holley single plane intake. I am running the 6010 msd, my cam lift is 53. Why is my engine cutting out when i apply heavy throttle. I just swapped the 5.3 into my hurst olds and the other day there was a honda civic next to me wanting to race and i almost lost lol. It happens from a dead stop and when i am cruising, i push the throttle to about 1/2 to 3/4 down and it cuts out and it seems like it backfires. What do i need to do?

if stabbing the throttle repeatedly helps it through the bog than that points to the accel pump.
Eddy's have a plunger type accel pump. Sometimes the rubber seal in the plunger ages and doesn't seal with slow movement. Repeated fast movements cause it to flex and seal properly. Sort of like a failing master cylinder.
Do a google search on edlebrock accel pump and find a good guide on how to adjust the linkage.
