Trade for LT1?
Currently i have a 1987 Camaro IROC-Z, 305 tpi auto with 81k miles. My friend has a 93 camaro z28 with the lt1. Its got headers, slp exhaust, drag radials. its loud as hell. Its also a manual with a twin clutch set up. I dont know the exact mileage. But he won first place a car show. He is selling it the same price as i am my car. Its the same color. I am an ls1 guy, but is an even trade worth it for a modded lt1 vs stock 305 tpi? thx!

just found out its got 112k miles. the paint looks good and won a couple awards. Im just wondering if it would have any problems soon. plus its got like 3k in mods (gears, full exhaust, twin disc clutch). Is it a good trade?

If it was a 94-97 LT1 I'd say maybe, but a 93 no way. Is your IROC pretty clean paint, body, and interior? If so just throw an LT1 or LS1 into it. It's not hard and will be an ultimate sleeper. There's nothing like wooping rice boy *** with what they consider a "hoosier, slow" 3rd gen.

The 93 is quite a step up in performance from your Iroc. I would buy an LS1 & keep the Iroc. I love the 3rd gen look. Had an 82 & 86.
87 Iroc is slow as hell though. I beat one in a race with the DD Honda Accord 4 door auto.

A 305 auto IROC is slow, only 210hp if maintained. The L98 350s if maintained only had 230-245hp but...... had 345lbs of trq almost instantaniously off the line which makes them pretty quick 0-50ish but after that the LT1 or LS1 will get them.

Tough call here. I think I'd keep the Iroc and do a swap, you'll have more room to work under the hood. The LT1 has great low end TQ also, but dealing with the Opti. alone is enough to cause a heart attack. I loved my LT1, but really don't want another due to the opti. I say keep your 3rd gen and drop a LS1 in it.
