Default 98 z28 High mileage

Found a 98 z28 with 170,xxx+ on the body. The motor I was told was replaced with a 2001 trans am Ws6 motor, with around 50,000 miles on it. My question I'm looking for answers to is, If I purchased this car, what problems may occur with this high mileage?

first off, a ws6 motor is nothing more than an ls1 5.7. ALL z28's SS Trans Ams and WS6's have them so that should not be the selling point bc u have the same engine as everyone else. (ws6 just has ram air induction, suspension, wheels, and tuned exhaust) moving on to ur question, anything could be wrong (head gasket, water pump, cracked block, etc.) or nothing could be wrong. best to take to a mechanic and let him look at it.

I have a 99 camaro z28 , it has a high milage around 167,000 miles an the car is completley perfect and fast! so what i wanna say that you can see solid cars with a high milages and kind of wrecked cars with lower milages. replacing the camaro engine with a ws6 engine will not make any difference because they'r both LS1's (LSX in general) I know a friend who have a ws6 trans am and he replaced the engine with an Ls3 . And sorry for the bad english

As for the body, it all depends on where geographically is was delivered to. For instance... in the north you have to worry about salt, and near beaches, sand and salt. My camaro has 178k on the body and it is rust free. Car was delivered to Tennessee and has been in the south since. But other than that, the car should be in great condition if it wasnt beat on.

I did end up buying it. It runs super good, and in my opinion is really good looking. It does need a tune though but other than that, it drives straight, solid, and smooth and runs out super good.

Congrats and good luck!!! I personally thought there were minor differences in LS1 engines when comparing a 1998 and a 2001, I think the block can be (not all) an LS6 and also the intake is different as well. You could probably do some searches on here and check the engine to back up the swap. With those miles, it was highway driven for sure, I have 110k on my car and doing heads and Cam and have no worries about the miles. Cheers and oh, post up some pics!!

I have 203xxx miles on my daily driven 99 z28. She still runs strong. Pulls strong and then purrs like a kitten. Stock motor and stock tranny as well. Hope that gives you some peace of mind.
