2002 SLP # 1167 Journey
After much consideration I decided to start upgrading my 2002 SS. It was a hard decision as the car is in mint condition and only has 11,700 original miles. I know some will call me crazy for doing this but I am not a collector nor I am trying to sell the car. Life is too short to be saving a car for somebody else to enjoy later so I decided I will make this "MINE". The mods will me mild and I am keeping every single part that will come out of the car. I intend to hit car shows and local rides (Cruise the Coast as I'm in MS). Next mod will be a stall converter.
Tomorrow the car will go in for the first set of mods which include:
TSP 1 7/8 headers
TSP 3" offroad Y pipe
BTR stage 2 cam (chromolly pushrods)
Comp Cams trunion upgrade
Race Star Wheels 15x10 & 15x3.75 (Waiting on Brown to show up)
Mickey Thompson 26" Drag radials (Waiting on Brown to show up)
More to follow when the piggy bank refills!

Oh hell yes mod away. I'd kill to have a NBM color as opposed to yucky *** black car I got stuck with.
Keep it tasteful though. I love 4th gens man almost 17 years since the last one rolled out and they still do not look dated to me and turn heads. Then again I seem to be stuck in the 90's still.

Having said that, I have an example with similar mileage/condition as yours, but I chose to avoid anything but the most basic of bolt-ons for mine. I've been down the road of significantly modded 4th gens before, and all the associated hassles is just not the vision I had for this car. After 12 years I don't regret this decision at all, even though many people can't understand why I don't want to modify it more.
The moral of this story being: No matter if you leave it stock or modify it, there will be a group of people who think you are crazy for choosing either path, and will tell you about how great it would be if you just picked the other route. Ultimately, you have to do what feels right and/or what experience has taught you is best for your personal goals and desires.

Go for it!
There is a 2004 ZO6 on ebay right now with 1,000 miles...bringing $30K, buy it now $32k...even if he gets his buy it now...factoring inflation, insurance, original price of the car...the guy basically lost $40,000+ ($53K in 2003 $'s is $69K today!) by buying and car and just letting it sit in his garage...these cars are made to be driven and enjoyed...have a good time and just don't wreck it....
If these cars actually become collectible some day as long as it isn't wrecked you are good!

Nice ride Basco! Blue is my favorite color too. Mine is red and black, but that may change later down the road. 368rwhp nice. Add 20% and the engine is putting out over 460hp. Should have fun with that. I need to get mine tuned also. I'm curious to see what it puts out. Have fun with it man.

She's definitely beautiful I hope you get to drive the wheels off of her the converter should be a nice touch.Mine isn't quite as pretty but she's fast enough that my wife fell madly in love with her and drives her 95% of the time.
I get such a charge out of my wife's love for her that I've been considering some serious upgrades for mine.

I'm retired and can't drop the nearly unlimited dough I used to spend on mine, but I do all of my own work in a heated, cooled 3 car garage. It just took me 3 weeks to do a fuel pump, air shocks ,& pinion seal due to the fact I can't hurry through anything these days as I am on oxygen but seeing the end result is always worth the effort.
