Default Going to the dark side...

I have sold my 99 Z28 A4. I initially wanted to find a pristine condition 01-02 WS6 or Firehawk. After doing a bit of research and looking extensively on autotrader, and other car sales forums, I have decided to go over to the dark side and buy a Terminator Cobra. I am really not a mustang fan, but those Terminators are so sick. It's going to put me back something like 24 or 25K for a nice one with low miles. I have heard they are so cheap and easy to mod, and for under $2,000 you can get one to about 450rwhp.

I just wanted to get everyone's opinion on whether or not they would go after a WS6/Firehawk or a Terminator (assuming they just sold their LS1/LT1 car). I am sure that this is going to be biased poll given the forum...lol... but please be honest. thanks.

Those cars are the BOMB.

The last gen F-bodies esp. the WS-6 cars are holding good value. I think you get a better bang for the buck with a used terminator by far.

I know, I found a 14,000 mile 2002 black firehawk, showroom new in jacksonville on ultimateridesonline dot com, but they are not nearly as fast as a Terminator. I really wanted to stay with GM products and find an LS2 GTO, but check out this video I found on YouTube of an LS2 consistently being outran by a Terminator (both stock)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFLn_nnVyyc

I know the age old argument that "if you put a supercharger on an LS2" but consider the time and money that would be spent on an effort like that.

Cobra first and second would be a low mileage WS6 M6.

Hold on, need to check something, I am in the right place; for a min I thought I was on a mustang forum!!

Seriously, mustang is a nice car, and that model is pretty cool, but this is LS1TECH afterall; so I voted for other. What does other mean, go pick-up an early year c-5; these cars are getting cheap, run like a SOB, and are much cooler than a mustang (yes I said that).

Note to Moderator, distribute all cobra votes to “other” category. LOL just kidding

PS I have a procharged D1SC on my stock LS1 and I make more power than the new shelby and I still have roughly 30K in my pocket. I hear your arguement, but a mustang??? Dude, you are killing me! LOL

i have an 03 cobra and an 01 ss at the house... the cobra is unmolested..(still under warranty til march).... and my ss has standard bolt on mods...... i love the camaro but i cant say i dont like the mustang just as much if not more.....theres nothing like a supercharger whistle when you mash the throttle...if i was given 3000 and had to choose which car to modify, it would hands down be the cobra.....the thing is ready to push some serious horsepower... the motor is forged from the factory and is just ready to take on mods.... the ls1 is my choice though... i am a die hard chevy fan but i do have alot of respect for an 03+cobra.... it is something ford did right... i dont know much about the terminator mustang.

If all you care about is being fast, then a Cobra is hard to beat.

For the same price of the Cobra, you can pick up a C5 Z06.

One thing to consider is the Cobra has the highest insurance out of all the cars of that "era" (Camaro, Firebird, Corvette, GTO, Mustang). The Z06 will probably one of, if not the cheapest to insure. Plus, it's a Vette!

I would pass on the GTO. They need too much suspension and rear end work. They also weigh about 300-400lbs more than the F-Body.

true... but i think hes not looking at doing anything significant to either car. In that case for the price range (probably around the same or close if hes looking at a super low mile ws6 or hawk) then the cobra is gonna outperform. Myself in truth would rather have a super low mile HCI hawk.

or just put a bottle on it and then your INSTANTLY faster

You are right, I am ashamed to want a mustang. 9 out of 10 mustangs (V8 or otherwise), just plain suck. They look like crap and run even worse (in stock form). But the terminators are so sick, you would have thought that GM finally let Ford in on a little secret: "People want to go faster!" The C5 vettes are just okay to me. I would not mind finding a z06 c5, but none with 20K miles or less are within my budget. I would have loved to keep my Z28, but I needed the money for a down payment, and I really wanted a 6-speed car, and it was just starting to really give me a bunch of problems, and was getting close to 100K miles.

I like your thinking, but in my situation (have to finance part of the purchase) I simply cannot get a loan on a car that old. Plus, the interior on the newer cars are so much nicer. A lot more "creature comforts" (I think that's the term for it), which my wife will like a lot more.

I say WS6 M6 i wouldn't want to be seen in a ford. Plus ford is having a huge problem they circled it all over the car.
