Default Took the Chevelle to the Track

Well I made it out to Tulsa Raceway Park yesterday for the last test and tune of the season. The weather was fairly nice, sunny and in the low to mid 60's. This was not only the first time for the chevelle at the track, but also the first time for me. For those who didn't know the car makes 354hp 353Tq to the rear wheels.

My Best time:
60'-2.055
1/8-8.244
MPH-86.38
1/4-12.794
MPH-108.66

I also ran a 12.882 at 108.40. I was really pleasantly surprised to see 12s since this was my first time out and trying to hook up with 255/50 street tires. The car certainly has more in it especially with a better 60' but I dunno if I can get a whole lot more out of these tires. Overall I had a good time though and I plan to make it back at least a couple times next season.

Wow, Very good! How were you launching with the street tires? I just went myself and traction was definitley the limiting factor.

Congratulations!

Thanks! and I was just footbraking and revving up on the stall to around 2000rpms then letting off the gas on the last yellow. I just continued rolling into the throttle through first till I was full throttle a little before it shifted into second. Later in the day it was getting loose on the 1-2 shift and the launches were worse and my times slowed to a 13.1 I think the track just got colder plus a few cars broke on the start.

I would love to do some real tires but I am also afraid that the tranny won't last long.

Nice times Pete... I had mine at Infineon last month
13.8 @ 101.6
4.11:1 grear
my 60' was 2.256

and like everyone else with Street tires.. I just spun then idling off the line and rolling into it. broke the tires lose on the 1-2 and 2-3... but being untuned.. I was missing on the top end WOT and was shifting at or before 5,800.. so.. need a tune and some sticky tires..

Pat, we have close times, we need to meet up at Sac one of these day and have at it !

Good idea, or maybe you will finally get registered for HAN next year and we can try Fernley again. I think the reduced power from the elevation actually helped me hook up there, but more practice or better track prep might help too.

Bczee, I would say with your mph you ought to be knockin on the door to 12's with some good tires and definitely with a tune. I am sure I would have had slower times if I was driving a manual as well. Definitely alot harder to launch. My car is also shifting at around 5800 on the 2-3 shift but the motor makes good power to 6500 so I need to get that adjusted and I bet I can get a little more out of it.

Nice times for the first time out on street tires! If you can get it to hook the times may surprise you! What stall are you running? Your dyno numbers aren't too far from mine so it will give you an idea what you can run with a good 60' time.

Its a 2800 rpm stall. I wish it was higher but its what I had so I am gonna run it for now. My dyno numbers are with the converter unlocked so they really should be a little higher. Nice to see that 11's might not be out of the question with a tire. What was your 60' on that run in your sig?

It was a 1.755 so even for me there's room for improvement. I'm also runnning a 2800 stall from Vigilante with the Ford 9inch and 3.89 gears. Our drivetrain is very similar. When I ran the 11's the temps were 30 degrees so I know that helped also.

Your car is definitely running good for bolt ons only really. I wonder how our cars would compare weight wise? I am thinking around 3400 for me but I really need to get it weighed. I take it you are running a 4l60e?
