Default Love gm for making ls engines like doritos...

Today I picked up a complete lq9, wiring harness, pcm, radiator, ac, water pump, ps, intake, maf , 4l60e with transfer case for awd, drive shafts and exhuast (cats to sell), for.............................

$580 off craigs list.

He even gave me a few tie downs.

No its not forsale as I have a few ls powered cars, and my new 03 gmc van is awd.....so I scored a back trans and transfer case for it.

I see 4.8 and 5.3 's now all the time for under 500$.......

Damn where the hell do you guys find these? I would love to find a 6.0 for $500. All the ones I can find are like $800. Do you have any tips for searching craigslist?

The cheap LS motors I find always have something wrong with them! I bought my 5.3L for $200 I think (cant remember, it was around there) but that was with a bad cam bearing, no accessories or intake/exhaust manifolds. Just found a 6.0L on CL for $500, only problem is it has 212k plus a rod knock! As they say, thats how the cookie crumbles eh...

I'm scouring craigslist for an LS1 for my project.. not too much luck though. Quick question, what is different on a motor that was mated to an auto vs. one that was mated to a standard?

The one that was on a Standard may still have the Pilot Bearing in the back of the Crank, other than that, nothing different on the Engine itself. The Wiring will be different if it comes with the Wiring Harness.

Lol i got my 2000 LS1 complete 60k a couple years ago, with injectors accessories, harness and pcm for $710. It took a hit in the oil pan so it was a gamble but it ended up being perfect. I love ebay.

I tore it down last night, all looks good so far.

As for searching........alot of people dont know they are wanted....and the cover says "vortec" 5.3 or 6.0.....and if you look for vortec engines, they are cheapppppp.

Another guy local, bought one off craigs for 300, complete with a 4l80e . The guy had no idea what it was.

Anyways, dont search ls, or ls1.....search vortec.....those will be the deals.

There are alot of them on teh craigslist here as well. I wish I would have looked earlier, I could have picked up the 8.1 instead of the 6.0

I talked to a few local shops and yards, and came out with a 03 escalade lq9 and a different tranny (needed a 2wd not a 4wd) and all components except the manifolds and the pedal (forgot to pick it up for the dbw) but it cost me 1200 bucks and they delivered it to my door, how nice of them
