Anyone have a part # for a 160* thermostat that actually fits in the housing? I've probably tried 7 different thermostats & the rounded part on all of them will not fit into the housing. I finally found a 180* at Napa that fits but I want a 160*.

How does one of these housings with an old style tstat work on an lsx engine. Would the heater circuit work?

With the CSR neck you're supposed to use an old school SBC thermostat. There's supposed to be some play in it since they don't have the little hole the LS1 stat does. I've got one on my project car and I used a regular old school 160 thermo. Works and comes up to temp just fine..

my question is related to the heater circuit. If you look at the LS waterpump the heater out and return are adjacent to each other. The back part of the ls t stat partitions the area betweem the two. Without this, ie, with the old style stat the inlet and outlet would be in the same space.

I know they take a thermostat from a SBC, I've tried every one I could find but they don't fit in the CSR housing. They are to big. Where did you get your thermostat? Happen to have the part #?

52 or 54 mm I think. Use a 89 camaro 305ci as a car to look it up for.

CSR said to use a 54MM thermostat. I have the CSR LS1 housing but have not purchased a thermostate for it yet.

54mm. I used a Stant 160* for a 350. It fit after some slight modification. I used a hole saw on the housing that had a slightly larger diameter than the opening and just carved out about 3mm of depth (for the shoulder of the t-stat). Then I just squeezed the top part of the t-stat with channel locks.

Why not just buy a thermostat from Summit that fits directly? It looks like they have both 160 and 180's

GM does not make a straight outlet and the factory t-stat wont fit in the csr neck.
