Default LS1 in a 240

Hey guys. I've seen some decent info on this site so far regarding putting an LS1 into a 240. Anyone know of any other sites that has good tech info of doing this? Kinda like a walkthru/what all is needed?

I've gathered so far that I'll need a GTO oil pan, new mounts, custom headers (can't remember if stock/aftermarket long tubes will fit in the 240 body), trans brace/mount, cut/notch/rebrace crossmember. Then there's something with the power steering and fuel system. I've also seen a few companies that sell the required stuff to do this. Sikky, Daft Performance, and Hinson, who no one seems to like lol.

I'm kind of a noob to the LS1 but just looking around for a bunch of info! Thanks!

good luck on that project. My buddy just did the LS1 swap on his 240, total cost for evrthing from engine to exhaust was $15k. The car is incredibly fast, made 450 on the dyno and ran 12.7 @ 114 on a 3rd GEAR START. It can't hook on 1st or 2nd. He has the suspension set up for the circuit track but is trying to set up something for the drag races as well.

That's badass. Sounds like his was a bit more than a stock LS1 though lol. Haha 12.7 on a 3rd gear start is hilarious. Did he put it in the S13 or S14 chassis?

Just getting started on the same project. Printed out schematics for retrofit wiring harness and started stripping my harness today. Mine is an 1989 coupe. Gonna make my own relay box for stand alone harness. Anyone else do the same or do you use the F-body relay box? Did you're friend make his own harness, mounts, crossmember mods, trans crossmember or did he buy them? How much $ in the cost of car and motor mods in that price? Thanks.

I have a crossmember that's already done, Center is 1/4" steel with two bends fullly welded with another 1/4" piece acros the back sandwiching the stock metal. then the bottom is 3/16" all across the underside. I'd let it go for $310 shipped

Got it by searching on here. Mine is a 1998 model, so, from what I understand the wiring will be different. If you have a '98 model PM me.

Haha. As I was searching around tonight I came across that forum, but couldn't view it at work. Looks pretty freakin sweet.

TurboGoCart,
which 2240 are you thinking of doing? the 240Z from 70s or the 240zx from late 80s.
I'm just finishing off mine 73 240z but run into issue with PCM/wiring.
Anyway try http://www.hybridZ.org, you will most probably find 90% of all the info you need for the swap. On http://www.arizonazcar.com you will find some suspension and performance parts.
From http://www.jagsthatrun.com you can get most of the hardware to mount the LS1 into the Z. I personally some time like to do things the hardway, and personally I did not like the way the engine mounts where made and hated the trans brace.
Most common LS donnor is early 90 camaro, it has correct pan and everything will clear in the bay though you will have to use BFH on the trans tunnel to make small adjustment.
I have all the info thats necessary but unfortunetaly the swap site is only about 50% complete.

Good luck with the swap and its not as difficult as you may be thinking

I was planning to put it in an 89 or newer 240. Sx I believe is that model? The S13/S14 chassis. Not too picky. I guess it comes down to whichever chassis I come across first lol. I do like the look of the S14's.

Probably should clarify WHICH 240 you are talking about! There are 2 Nissan/Datsun 240's and a Volvo 240!
