I have a complete 6.0 harness I just removed from a donor truck if you want to just send it in and have it modified. I only need 150 for it.

If you look in the stickys in this forum there are a ton of info on striping down the wiring harness.

John at Speartech can either modify your harness or build you a new one. I went with Speartech and am totally satisfied. You should give him a call.

i went with a street and performance kit when a put the 414 in my firebird. all you needed was to plug it up to the motor give it power and ground, and i had to get a fuel pump relay.

I used the Painless kit. I'm sure there are other good options, but I have a hard time understanding how any could be *better* than Painless! Everything is exactly the right length and clearly labeled. They have really well developed instruction manuals, and they have excellent phone support, too.

If I do another LS1 swap, I'm going with Painless again.

Cheers,

Dean

It's only painless IF they put the correct pins into the correct connector holes....yes we got a hrness pin'd wrong and it was a bugger troubleshooting it.

just pull up a chair and read. I was in the same boat. I didnt want to mess with all the wiring but i just started to take the harness apart and it wasnt that bad at all. I ended up using a 94 lt1 camaro fuel/relay box too. Im not going to lie, im proud i did the wiring my self.

you say you already have a harness. Are you trying to modify a used harness or have you purchased one already?

With a little more information...like the year/make of your engine and transmission I can recommend a Painless harness that will make your life a lot easier than trying to modify a used harness. Right now we (Painless Performance Products) have specials that could save you a lot of money..

I'm going to take you up on that offer and see how much you can save me. I had previously spoken to Jack at Painless, he recommended harness #60608 at a retail cost of $1995 ( but only $1416 if I got it from Jegs or Summit), seemed a little steep to me, maybe you can help. PM being sent.

Unless you need a new harness because yours is damaged or building a show car. I suggest you re-work your stock harness. Schematics are readily available. If you trust your soldering skills, go for it. You can buy a cam and swap headers for the price of one of their aftermarket harnesses.

I personally have used a Painless harness for my LT1 swap. They're expensive but the quality is top notch, even better than the factory imo, but then I went with a reworked factory harness for my LS1 swap and the company who did it was at least 50% cheaper than Painless and the quality was also good with easy to follow instructions. What I see is that Painless is offering you a complete harness for the vehicle and engine which is good if the vehicle is old and in need of new wiring but its going to be expensive to find a reputable shop to install all of that wiring. I can easily see a shop charging you a minimum 10 hours worth of work or more. At this point its all about how much you want to spend or save.

$2k seems like a lot of money to "not have to mess with it".
