I was wondering the same thing on which harness is the best for the swap, but realized that I would just modify the harness and ECU that was meant for the engine in the first place!

For me the question was, what was the best value?? Depends on how much time and effort vs. cash you want to spend. The wiring was the most challenging part of the build for me; integrating the late model electronics with idiot gauges, different alternator setup, etc. For me, a Howell harness and modified ECU have worked well for my LS1/4L60E conversion into an A body. Great tech support from Troy and the gang and I bought it used and they still will answer all of my questions.

I didn't notice in your response a recommendation or an answer to the posted question. Do you have one?
IMHO, considering the amount of posts for electrical issues with these conversions I think someone also needs to consider their time and the potential headaches; it is not always the absolute price of the part. If that was the case we would all be melting copper and color coding each wire ourselves. Howell's harness and reprogrameed ECU and clear instructions made it relatively easy to install for someone who is not an expert. It fired the first time (as soon as I switched the crank and cam sensor which plugs look exactly the same).

Ive posted numerous threads spoon feeding the wiring processes, and also build harnesses for those who dont want to attempt it. Mine are also clearly labeled so you cant mix up what connector goes where. The fact that the connectors can reach both sensors shows laziness on the part of the MFR to not build a tight fitting harness
