2000 3.8L V6 to 2000 LS1 V8 Conversion
Ok I am planning on a conversion and have been researching on and off for about 6 months, and I have a list of items I need but I am still a little fuzzy on some things.
The list I have so far is:
http://www.tacreationsusa.com/3_4_3_8_v6_to_ls1.htm
Does anybody know what needs to be changed for a 2000 TA harness to fit a 2000 Firebird. Thanks
The list I have so far is:
- 1999 Corvette LS1 Engine (for the Corvette fuel rail with return)
- T56 Transmission
- Trans Am K-Member & Motor Mounts
- LS1 Steering Rack
- Trans Am PCM (getting 2000 PCM flashed to the engine)
- Trans Am Engine Harness (2000 Harness)
- Trans Am Gauges (will these plug and play?)

Does anybody know what needs to be changed for a 2000 TA harness to fit a 2000 Firebird. Thanks

Can somebody tell me if for the Fuel Injector I have to splice the "B" wire from the C101 harness to the "B" wire on the C105 harness. From this diagram:
http://www.dxsoftware.com/magnus/wiring.htm
According to this thread it is true (however his car was a 1999 with a 2001 donor)(mine is a 2000 Firebird with a 2000 harness and 99 engine):

Yes I am going to ditch the turbo idea after seeing a post on hear and the reliablity. What did you do for the mechanical pedal. Since the Firebird's are electronic. Do you have to run a cable all the way to the Firebirds pedal? Also I was planning on using the V6 pump and tank. Is this a bad idea. Couple other people have done it though.

Swap the pedal assembly and purchase a new throttle cable from gmpartsdirect for under $30. Part number is 12565560 for the throttle cable.
Using the V6 pump isn't a good idea. The tank you have is a plastic tank, so it's the same as the LS1 version aside from the pump itself. Purchase a Racetronix drop in pump and be done with it.
FYI: I'm dropping a 2001 WS6 motor into my 98 camaro at the moment. I will be posting a massive post and pics shortly in this forum with loads of information on this stuff. I'm not sure how useful it will be to you since you are swapping to the same year (which is about as easy as it gets).

Yeah I had to pay more to get a harness from a 2000 model believe me, but I think it's worth it to not have to splice anything and still not know for sure if it will startup.

A 99-01 camaro 3.8L plastic fuel pump bucket is the same as a 99-01 camaro 5.7 fuel pump bucket? Only difference is the pump itself, correct? Everything else on the bucket is the same?
