Default Please Help a Newbie 68-72 A-body swap

Been a member for about a year and a half trying to gather up as much information on the LS Swap into my 70 Chevelle. I just picked up an 06 Pontiac GTO with a nice running LS2 and T56. I wasn't planning on buying the engine this soon, but the deal just kind of fell into my lap, and was too good to pass up. So Now I'm kind of behind the 8-ball because I don't have anything prepared and I don't want to have this hulk of a car sitting around for years while I figure everything out.

First Question: Is there a combination of Engine adapter plates/engine stands, oil pans, and exhaust that you guys typically use? I have read that some have the engine too far forward, too far back, too high, too low.... If you have these, Can I get some pics of the oil pan clearance to the crossmember and the head clearance on the firewall?

I'm not too worried about cutting up the floor to fit the transmission but if you are running a 6 speed, do you have any pictures of where the shifter comes up inside the car?

On to do more research.

This is with CTSV pan and Hooker headers I started with. You can see the firewall clearance a little.

A second shot

I noticed that you have an AC Firewall... Did you keep the suitcase for it?

The A/C suitcase will fit with the engine in place. My original intention was to use the original A/C suitcase and the new compressor for kind of a hybrid system. I scrapped that idea and am going to use a Vintage Air sure fit and smooth the firewall. I am also going to get a DSE delay wiper kit. I want everything under the hood to look late model.

After looking at several swaps I decided to smooth the firewall. Although I have not committed to the mounting location of my LS2 engine controller and fuse panel that area would be a possible location.
