If you're using the 5.3 crank, I hope you're rebalancing it, for the 5.7 rotating assembly

Don't forget that the head bolts aren't reusable. That's another 50$

Thank you, I am getting the crank balanced, I lumped that into "machine work", I will add head studs to my list, those katech rod bolts look nice, I am debating if I should replace used rods with eagle h-beams to match the new forged piston , I don't know if its overkill and worth the extra $ if the stockers are strong enough.... and edit on my cam I am getting the vengeance VRx4.

I'm pretty sure the side bolts for the mains are tty as well as the balancer bolt.

It's too bad you can't bore the iron block to 4" to make it a 6.0L. Then you could use L92 heads if you wanted.

I don't know how far you can bore out the 5.3L block... it might be possible.

Okay so head bolts, main side bolts, and balance bolts are all tty and need to be replaced. I would just buy a LQ4 block if I was going 6.0 and put my 241 heads (which I have) and raise the compression. The problem with that is its going in a 240sx and correct me if i am mistaken, I am not sure if the accessories will fit the same as a Ls block, I would have to do more fabricating... there are pretty much bolt in kits for a LS motor into 240.

All the other accessory setup's should bolt up to your block. The only difference I know of is the F Body accessories require you to drill and tap one of the holes. I have not done an F Body accessory drive, but from what I have read on this site the truck motors have the boss, but its not drilled and tapped. Keep in mind that each accessory set up has different depths so you cant mix and match balancers and water pump pulley's, etc.

I'd either upgrade the rods or get some stock ls1 pistons with new rings, no sense in paying $600 for stuff you don't need.

I have done some research on the LQ4/LQ9 and that looks like a great way for me to go, with the money I would spend having the 5.3 machined/re-built, I could buy a low mileage LQ, I will use the LQ shortblock and put my 241 heads on it. VRx4 cam, comp 928 springs, and a tune. I am on the hunt for a shortblock and taking my heads to be cleaned today. I have a spare complete LS-1 motor with 3 broken rods and a hole in the block , thats why I am doing this. FYI

yeah the 6.0 will give you more power for roughly the same amount of money. the poor 240 will not know what to do!
