Default 67camaro swap edelbrock mounts

Trying to swap this ls1/t56 into my 67 camaro and the mososo 20141 pan is touching the frame. I know several people on here have used the edelbrock swap mounts but these seem to be a little low. I'm posting these pics cuz I've been talking with others and did not want to throw my stuff on there thread. The 1st pic is the driver side and red is where its touching, green is where I plan to shim, and bloue is how far off I am. the second is the passenger side and has no issues67camaro swap edelbrock mounts-camaropan1.jpg

Maybe you could use a set of th mounts I made for my Chevelle.
I had fitment issues but with the steering bar contacting the truck oil pan at full lock turns, then I made these plates.
They require 4 1" extensions btween the engin and the bracket but thn thy clar beautifully, and not only that but these allow the use of the truck AC Compressor and mount with a slight modification.
These plats have only been tsted on A bodies though.
I have a couple of these, and can make as many as neded. I would sell them for 45 dlls per set if there were anyone intersted.
Of course I am talking about the lower one, the upper is just there for comparison purposes.

I made a set of plates in the Edelbrock pattern.. I had the pan just touching the x-member and the engine bolt would not go in to the mounts.. much like your having a problem with.

I raised the frame stand by shiming up them with 1/8" x 1" strap metal and oblonged the x-member holes about 1/4" upward on each side.. after that, the pan was off of the x-member and the bolt went in ok after all of that.

thats what I'm gonna do this week. Thanx for the input, I think the edelbrock sits low and to the rear a little

I think Edelbrock model there kit with a LS1 pan which is very shallow on the front part of the pans. But many aftermarket pans are a bit deeper in the front due to them being designed to use a full windage tray as compared to the LS1 which is only a 3/4 tray.

The stands on the frame of my 69 look to be taller than those on yours, what motor did you car originally come with?

who knows, if these cars could talk. I ment to say 40 years earlier but you get the idea. people have monkeyed with these cars for years then we come along and expect factory everything. Or maybethats just way this one is

I just checked my engine stands on my 69 Camaro and they appear to be the same as yours. I know for a fact my car was a 327 factory car. It still had the original engine in it when I bought it 17 years ago. I called Classic Muscle which sells restoration parts for most Chevys and talked to Bill Neely. He said that all the small block cars had the tall mounts and that only the big blocks came with the shorter mounts. There wasn't any difference from one small block to the next. So I am now in the same boat as you. I haven't yet tried to set my 6.0 in yet but glad you brought this matter to my attention. I have the exact same oil pan as you but I am using different adapter plates. I have the Swaptech adjustable ones which are 3/8" thick. I will be using the Energy Suspension mounts like yourself. Have you checked to see what angle your engine is sitting at in reference to the frame? I think it is supposed to be a negative 3 to 5 degrees. That may help a little if your trying to clear the front of the pan. Do you have the tranny mount in yet? Do you have an angle finder? Just curious as to what angle you are sitting at in the pics.

Mine is/was a factory 327, but it came with the short mounts. I've forgotten who posted the link to the explanation (Rodder?), but it had to do with the size of the factory damper.
I've seen where shortages of parts in a factory application can cause other parts to be slipped in.....as long as they fit, of course!
I'll try to locate the story.

There are at least three frame stands that I am aware of (BBC, small block short, and small block tall) and a variety of motor mounts. Most of the LSx swap adapters assume you are using the small block tall frame stands with the small block short & wide motor mounts.

Edelbrock says to use the tall mounts if my memory serves me well.

Interesting! I was told wrong from the man that I have known and trusted with years of GM service. Just measured my brackets maybe we can figure something out here. Drivers side bracket from the center of the hole to the frame is 1 7/8" and the passenger side is 2 1/8" from the center of the hole to the frame. Now unless someone removed the matching code 327 out of my Camaro, which is highly unlikely but possible, just to change the engine stands this is what came in mine from the factory. I wonder where I can find the tallest stands that will fit my car? Guess I could make them. As a matter of fact I believe I will. Is there a reason why the right side is higher than the left side? I wonder if I put a bolt in each and get a level will they be on the same plane. Maybe the frame mounting is different and that is the need for the offset in the stands. Got me curious now.

Now I know Bill didnt take the time to look at the difference in stands. I went to oldmusclecars.com which is the link to Classic Muscle and looked up the availability of the proper mounts. And there it was the 302 and 350 were different from the norm and are available. So now which ones did you guys say I needed to get this pig off of her belly?

Very good article about the frame stands.
I noticed this about the Energy Suspension mounts/have read this before........."This is the Energy suspension motor mount (3.1114G) which comes with a must-use reinforcement plate under it."
There's no way that my LS1 would fit using this backing plate, and in fact, several gurus here have said that the plate can't be used. I haven't seen any negative reports from this practice, but I'm hoping that my engine doesn't come through the hood one day!

I just measured the centers of the stands down to the cross member and have approx. 5" of clearance. I went to the engine and measured from the bottom of the pan towards the front to the center of the mounts and I will have the same problem as KevMac. I did notice the Energy Suspension mounts are offset. In the normal position they are 1/2" offset to put the engine lower in the chassis. I am going to try and flip the adapters over and flip the ES mounts over that should just about give me enough to clear. It will also help with bolt hole alignment. As of right now KevMac's mounts are too wide to line up. KevMac can you try to flip the adapters and the mounts since your engine is already in its bay? What a bummer! Let me know what you find out.
