water pump issues

can someone tell me (yes i have searched) which is the in and which is the out on a 2000 LS1 water pump to go to the heater core or does it really matter?

Search....hmmm, it's been discussed numerous times.

Anyways, the small fitting is the pump outlet and the larger fitting is the return.
