Just an FYI we are working on an adapter harness to integrate LSX/Vortec engines into the C/K Pickups. PM me for details. This would allow retention of the gages and other electrical items while eliminating the TBI harness.

This may be an unexpectedly popular product...seriously.

You can get some sensor adapters and use the trucks original sensors and wires to operate the gauges, just be sure not to cut the wiring. The temp sensor from the 454 will be installed at the rear of the passenger side head, oil pressure sender will go to the rear of engine, the voltage will come from back of alt, fuel will remain the same you will only need to change the pump in the tank and the run the hotwire for the pump to the relay of the Howell harness.

We agree and will be detailing our first C/K swap in a thread on LS1Tech.com. Should start in the next few weeks.

i will be heading over to check that out. I have a 94 suburban with a blown tbi 350 that I would love to put a 5.3 in. This harness would be very popular.

Will keep everyone updated. Just received a good lead on a 6.0 instead of a 5.3 for the swap. We will be getting this going soon.

This is what I was waiting for, hah. Just two question. Is this only for TBI? Mine is a 99 Vortec with SPFI. Will your harness work with my application?

Thanks

Right now focus is on the TBI swaps only. Once we develop the interface, we will look into the 'old' vortec platforms and see what is applicable.

Check out http://www.hotrodlane.cc/PDFFILES/Lisa%20Tahoe.pdf, Vortec is even simpler than the tbi.

Call Howell directly and talk to their tech department. You can ask for Troy? who helped me immensely with my LS1/4l60E setup with a Howell harness and reflashed ECU. I bought the stuff used and he still answered all of my questions and offered to reflash my ECU for me pretty cheap. Their wiring harness will operate all of the gauges; hell I made it twice as hard on myself and reverse engineered it to work with the idiot lights!

Adapter harness in development (had a very busy spring and didnt get to swapping the motor in the truck we are developing the harness from). Will be starting a thread on this in the next few weeks as components get removed and replaced. Once completed we will move forward with prototyping and testing, then production.

X2

My 6.0 liter GTO stand alone Harness and ECM was from them. Troy is a real real nice guy to work with.

It really boils down to what you want though as I wanted to retain my stock gauges for a stock look.

So essentially, other than the tach output, that they changed in the ECU to allow my stock 8 cyl tach to work, nothing was needed from and ECU\wiring standpoint for the other gauges.

However, at my request they also added cruise wiring to use my stock cruise stalk on the steering column with the LS2 Drive by wire.

Hmm. Interesting. I'll be starting my 6.0 swap into my 92 k1500 soon. I wasn't sure if i was going to retain stock guages, go aftermarket, or my third option is swap to 97 style dash..
