Default KA24DE 240SX(S14) vs LS1 240SX(S14) Weight Difference Inside

Attached are my before and after weights for my 240SX LS1 swap. The tire pressures were ~40psi for the before and after weights. The weights are empty tank vs full tank for KA24DE and LS1. Car features, weights and weight distributions are below.

how did you fit the stock manifolds on your swap. i was under the impression that you had to use the custom sikky headers with the swap, i ask because i am doing a budget 5.3 vortec swap in my s13 and if i can get around those $700 headers it would be a real help, also what do you mean by custom manifold, and how did you get the ac to fit?

"You'll just add weight"
"You'll disrupt the weight distribution"
"You'll change the balance for the worse"

I hear this all the time from LS1 haters.

I love when hardcore data cannot be disputed! Great job, very informative.

Lets look at this carefully. The heaviest LS1 weight = 2936, minus the lightest before swap(2824) = and increase of 112 lbs. Not much in itself. BUT, that 2936 was with a full tank of fuel. 14.55 allons at 6 lbs per gallon = 87 lbs of fuel added.
So if the fuel wasnt added, the LS1 swap was only 25 lbs increase over the original engine.
Seems like a heavy pig to me..not.

The only thing I see that could be disputed is the sway bar. Any idea on what it weighed.

Not yet as it is still breaths through a 2" S14 240SX exhaust system. Just wait till it's modded.

Thanks. This is the point of doing this comparison as every swap is different. I tried to keep it as straightforward as possible without any removal/addition of items to the car.

Trust me. It was a lot of trouble. But I'm more for technical data than "assumptions" or "opinions".

Nope looks like someone got shafted out of $250.

I Mike McCormick, aka letsrunem, a $250 cashiers check on MARCH 15, 2011, he texted me a few times until he got it cashed on MARCH 23, 2011, then he stopped answering my calls, emails and texts. I have not recieved any communication from him, I have not recieved any antiroll bar from him or my money back. Do not trust this guy, he will take your money. So much for racers trusting racers. and of course everyone forgets - if they were to add a turbo or similar to pump up the stock motor they would add WAY more weight to the very front nose of a car.

e36 stock m3 vs ls1 ended up being ~40lbs heavier and i'm betting most of it is the heavy *** t56 sitting way low and in the middle of the car
