Default Winter Project (Muscle-Up)

Over the winter I plan to push some more power into my 1968 impala by squeezing some more juice out of the carb'd 2007 lq/4-4l80e. Car runs great and pulls strong. Right now it is a 10k mile engine and tranny from a 2007 1500 hd 2wd, edelbrock intake/1 3/4 long tube headers/770 cfm quick fuel carb/stock cam/ stock 317 heads/ stock tranny and convertor/ 3.55 posi rear end. Its a convertible and never sees the track, strickly my toy/cruiser.

Looking for suggestions on heads (port & polish or L-99 etc..), cam (sugg) and convertor (stall speed)?

Do you have a writeup on the install of this? I'm just in the planning stages of a lq4/4l80 into a 70 impala. Any major hangups? Did you have the headers made or off the shelf?

Very nice, the front disc brakes look awesome. I used to have a 68 Impala SS, with a 396 BB and a 4 speed.

Sorry i don't have a write up on it, but I don't mind trying to help you out if you ever have a question. I would always try to get an answer if you asked anything, just send me PM's and i will respond. Two major bumps I ran into were, oilpan clearance because our 65-70 b-body steering center link sits behind the engine cradle and your drivers side header will certainly have to be custom fab. Other then that it is pretty routine (as retro ls-engine swaps go).

And thanks buddy, I have a rear disc conversion kit, so all 4 calipers are painted chevy orange with engine block paint. Looks great when the wheels spin. Bright orange contrasting the purple and black.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I knew there was going to be issues with the oil pan. Did you go with Corvette Spindles on the front?

My '70 has factory discs but I'll have to change them out one day because you can't get rotors for them anymore. Car is strange anyway, it has a 5x5 bolt pattern for the wheels that best I can tell is factory. Every bit of documentation I've found says it should be 5x4.75 but I'm the second owner and the car has 5x5. Car was stock when I bought it.

I never changed the spindles. What I bought the car the Owner told me it had corvette front brakes. But when ever I go to the local auto parts I get pads for a 68 impala. When I over hauled the entire break system I got calipers from the local Murray's/O'rielly for a 68 impala. So I assumed the 4 piston from disc were a rare option.
