No they aren't. The LT1 T56 uses a "pull style" clutch with a fork. It cannot be used behind any gen 3 engine. You can convert an LT1 trans to an LS1 by changing the midplate, input shaft and bell housing. To make this a reasonable option you would need to buy the LT1 T56 very cheap because if you buy new parts to covert the trans you will have $225.00 in the front plate, $215.00 in an input shaft, roughly $200.00 in a slave cylinder and roughly $200.00 in a bell housing. If you don't purchase the LT1 transmission cheap you will have more into converting the trans than you would have in just buying an LS1 T56.
