Default Dynatech musclemaxx LSX headers in a 2nd gen Firebird

I've been gathering parts for my LQ4 swap in my 1980 Pontiac Firebird. I've been looking at longtube headers and these seem to have a cheap price and I'm wondering who all have used them? I see them alot for around $450 plus shipping and thats not bad at all. I just haven't seen much about them.

Also my next questions is what engine mounts are you running? I've been looking at the BRP kit but I see alot of people using the Dirty Dingo slider mounts. I'm not really sure what to go with. I'm going to be using the F-Body ls1 oil pan.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Eric

Wow they look great! I was just going to modify my 4th gen headers but decided to do a turbo kit instead. But they looked like it wouldn't take much.

68shortstep,
Those look great. Thanks for posting the pics. Are you running a 4L60e? I'm lanning to go with a 4L80e trans so I don't think there will be any clearance issues. Are your the 2.5" or 3" collectors?

Rick Speed,
I seen on another forum where a guy pulled his ls1 out of a wrecked formula and used it in an 81 T/A. He used the 4th gen longtubes also, said he just had to change where the O2's mounted and they were fine.

interested in these as well as I've just sold my modded pacesetters. I've heard these hang alittle low? Anyone care to comment on the ground clearance?

I'm bumping my old thread.

I've finally got around to where I'm able to get some parts going for my project. I've got a LQ4, 4L60e (for now). I'm still searching for some headers and hoping to find some good input on the dynatech's. I know some say they do hang low, any others?

I'm also still trying to figure out engine mounts. I'm planning on using the carshop 1" setback plates but not sure about the actual frame mounts. Do I need the clamshell engine mounts and a set of the frame mounts or is there something different I can use? I'm also going to order a ls1 F-body oil pan.

food for thought: see if you can scare up some Edelbrock LSx muscle car headers. They're no longer in the header biz, but the product fits very well, and does not hang down far at all. My car is lowered for road race, and I haven't hit them once. My cats, on the other hand, get thumped every so-often.

And yes, that is a 2nd gen F-body with a Corvette Batwing pan in it.

Thats true but I believe I would have a hard time finding a nice set. I dont have enough posts to start a thread in the classifieds. I also frequent ebay looking for some.

I do plan on lowering the car so I guess the dynatechs would be bad low then. I figure the price for the dynatechs is around my range but I cant really afford a 1000 dollar set of kooks.
