Default 1968-1972 A Body Radiator, what are you using?

Bczee said he got a ebay universal aluminum unit with the steam port and correct radiator hose sizes.

I want the large size radiator, with steam port. Manual transmission

Let me know what you are using.

1970_Clone,
I used the HD Chevelle radiator from Advance Auto Parts pn-433322. This is an aluminum core with plastic tanks, has the upper hose connection with a step down that matches the upper hose size for ls. I drilled a hole in the passenger tank and installed a transmission pan add on drain plug with the retaining nut mounted below the radiator cap for the steam line. Note that this radiator has a core size of 28x18.5". The bottom radiator hose I used was Dayco 71990 (fits 2001-2005 Silverado 5.3). Top hose for 2009 5.3 waterpump was Dayco pn-71989 (fits 2004 Silverado). Cost for the radiator was $166.99 a year ago.

When I bought my 70 in 05, it had a huge aftermarket aluminum rad hooked to the small block. When I switched to the big block I kept using it. Now with 4.8l I am still using it. I bought 03 truck rad hoses and they work great. I had to spray the hose ends and rad inlet and outlet with wd40 to make them go on. Engine never goes over 190*f.

Northern Radiator LS conversion unit, I can't recall the part #. Actually fit quite well.

I found a Norther Radiator 209626 that has 1 1/2" in and 1 3/4" out. Is this what yours had?? Do you recall what hoses you used?? I emailed a retailer about getting it with 1 1/4" in and 1 1/2" out but haven't heard anything yet.

I believe it's the same size as the 2nd gen F-body. I did a bit of digging at rockauto.com and ended up using radiator #CU709. Others may fit as well.

Edit: just looked and realized how old this thread is!

I'm using the Griffin LS conversion radiator. Haven't installed it yet, but it looks like a nice piece.

Matts8 - LOL.. yeah.. back from the Dead Thread section... !

I bolted the top of the Shroud to the top of the stock Radiator Support panel. The lower part of the shroud was fit/slid with the Radiator into the lower C-Channel of the Radiator support, just used some rubber or Electrical tape between the shround and anything it comes into contact with.

If I recall correctly, I used the truck upper and cut it down at the radiator end. The lower escapes me. Right now the car is in storage and all of the invoices for parts are with it. I remember that I spent some time at the parts store looking over hoses until I found one that looked good. I don't recall doing any splicing of either hose. So far no leaks, temp runs right on, fans are quiet and work as OE.
