Smile Katech Ls2 powered Rx7 drift car from Norway

Hello fellow car builders.

This RX7 is build to run in the Norwegian powerdrift series and hopefully some international series..
It is a 1993 Mazda Rx-7 that is bone stock. It had a engine, tranny and diff but thats all gone now.

I will be running a ls2, a 4 speed dog shift (mid valley) and hopefully a speed way quick change diff.
It will run a Re amemiya time atack kit

The plan is to build it as an race car but whit a street car exterior..

I have to admit after being whit my mate Fredric Aasbo to both america and the middle east, i have gotten alot of inspiration from the formula D cars and having some of that in mind...

I had this car in my backyard for way to long, so i figured out why not build a pro drift car???

This is a brand new crate engine from Katech
Complete LS2 engine plus the following:

-Street camshaft, mild lope
-PSI springs
-Trend pushrods
-CNC-ported heads
-C5-R timing chain
-Katech oil pump
-Katech aluminum valve covers, powdercoated red with Katech logo inserts
-Katech coil relocation kit with black wires
-Katech billet belt tensioner

Specs:
58x/4x triggers
90mm cable throttle body
Corvette damper/water pump
Corvette oil pan
509hp 447tq

Stack gauges to keep eyes on everything.

Here comes the engine

How it looks like

I Have made i detachable front to make it easier to repair, maintain whatever.

Just had to try fit the engine to see what i had to cut away.

Only mounting points left

Had to do some more tubing.

Made some solid engine mounts.

Now its inn.

I try to do everything on my own to keep costs down and rater spend money on a good engine/drive train package

Have a nice day!

Joachim

But now the thing is.. On my last car (skyline R32 with rb26) i ran autronic SM4 stand alone ecu, but that was so expensive...
I need a ecu and harnesses and will change to throttle cable..
What do you guys prefer? Any opinion?

best regards Joachim

Look up PSI for your ecu and harness, they make a great looking harness for a good price. It will be a stand alone set-up

Wow this looks like an amazing build. Your welds look very nice and your fabrication skills look top notch. Can't wait to see this thing all done. What will you be running for headers?

Thanks a lot guys. I have now sent email to PSI and hoping for a answer..
I will run summit DIY headers since i have no idea what will fit whit the ground clearance i will run..
Time will show. Hopefully i will have some more big parts in a few weeks.

My pace performance bell housing is back orderers with no date so i don't know what do yet...

This is todays work, then i don't have to worry about bottom being scratched up and better for the heat against the exhaust

I would choose ECU dependent on which tuner you are using.

Stock GM computer is cheap and great, but dont help you much because there are no tuners over here that knows how to use it.....at least from what I have found out calling around.
Ringstad had never heard of HpTuners when I called him when I built my first LS1 a couple of years back.
Ended up doing it myself with HpTuners, wideband and butt dyno....

Actually I would look into the new Holley Dominator with the self learning function - should do the job fine !

Lykke Til !
