boosted 5.3 airboat i am helping a guy with his airboat.
so far cam only 5.3, billet wheel 76, 66mm wg, stock computer, big injectors, e85, holly 1800hp twin pump.
i dont know anything about airboats. i do know something about ls motors and this thing should make some power. not sure if that will translate into a crazy fast boat or not. it will likely get a larger built motor down road. we are sizing everything for ~1000+hp.

moved it over to the tall side of the garage and finished it up. blades and all. tomorrow we load it up and take it someplace out of the way to tune it as much as we can on the trailer. if there are no issues it should be hitting the water this weekend.
the wg spring is 10psi. it will get turned up later but for now that seems like a good starting place. here is a short video of it in the garage.

ran it up to 10psi and pitched the blades to hold it at 5000rpm. it moves a lot of air and makes a lot of noise.
i nearly blew it up, i had the boost line to the wg hooked to the wrong port. one of the first tuning pulls where i got it into wot the boost shot up from 8psi to 30psi in an instant and it wasn't done climbing. my hearing was not normal for 1/2 an hour after that. luckily it has good fuel and had a ton of fuel programed in and had no timing programed in. that being said i think the motor would hold close to 30psi but not till later in the year when he is ready to turn it up.

had a fun day. boat ran great. plenty of power. the tune didn't change at all from the trailer to the water.
the boat pushed the front end down too much when you hit it. today they are going to adjust the engine/blade angle compared to the hull. that is suppose to help keep the front up. if you go too much angle the front end bounces so you have to find the sweet spot.
the boat also had a wicked lean when you floored it. i think the really high hp boats have 2 sets of counter rotating props to stop this. maybe adjusting the engine angle and getting the front of the boat up a little will help? there is another 300+hp left in this thing so the lean might be a problem but right now it is just weird but you get used to it.

Not to rain on the air boat parade but you might want to let that motor run a little prior to shut down. With the load and length of run time, that turbo must be getting mighty warm and you might end up baking that oil in turbo without a few minutes of cool-down.
Super cool project though.
Takes me back to the days of building then down in southern Florida.
Back then, no one even knew what a turbo really was, lol.

It looks like the air boat is continuing to build speed in each case when yall lift off of the throttle. It also appears that at idle it's moving pretty well across the water? Yall get a gps unit to measure speed?
