Default 2001 WS-6 LS3 418 Build!!!!!!!

Hi guys I have been around here for a while and figured I would post my new car and all the mods that were done to it. I use to have a ls1 powered 82 corvette and that was my introduction to the LS world. I had planned more for the vette but wanted something a little newer and more pratical for a well rounded street car that drives just like stock but makes great power.

I started with my 2001 ws-6 Trans am, this car was mostly stock when I purchased it, just a eletric cutout and K and N intake system.

I added the TT2s and tires and a MGW shifter which I am super happy with. After that I decided I wanted to go big or go home.

I deployed so I ended up sending my car to my buddy Josh Powers at Custom Image Corvettes in south dakota who also did the swap on the LS1 vette for me.

Once he got the car the Transformation began.

The Engine and Transmission were removed and the only thing that is going to be going back in is the K member and a arms pretty much everything else in this picture was not kept other than the calipers but they were customized as well

Before the engine was to go in however there was other work that needed to be done, my suspension was pretty much shot so It was completly dissasembled

All the bushings were replaced, ball joints tie rod ends the works, Then everything was painted black and put back together, Strano springs and Koni shocks finished things up, they were also painted black.

I knew the stock rear was not going to hold the power so I contacted MWC to handle that issue.

The result was a fabriacted 9 inch housing with a strang S-trac differential with 3.90 gears. I retained the 4 channel ABS and also had the rear end narrowed 2.25 on each side.

To finish it all out I matched it up with a MWC watts link

The Rims now needed replacing but I wanted to keep the TT2s for now so I ordered a custom offset and sold my rear ones and pretty much came out close to even.

Finally to install everything, it came together pretty fast so we didnt get alot of pictures of everything.

I re used my Monster stage 3 from the vette

Fuel was handled by a walboro 255 with a Hotwire kit Originally we had took the tank out to install it that way but after some issues we decided a door was in order to make things easier.

so after the door was cut we decided to make use of all the little stickers and stuff that we had from parts

Some More Custom Pieces showed up including my calipers and my dash plate

We also needed to figure out how to run the DBC since the ls3 intake does not use a cable this is what we made

was time to button everything up and get thigns going. The wiring was very important to me so carful planning was done I wanted a clean engine bay and not chopped up wiring.

The solution was to not run any kind of harness adapters, the ls1 harness was completly re pinned to accept ls3 style connectors and also the cam sensor and knock sensors so everything looks stock on the harness. It was also hidden down lower towards the k member just behind the heater hoses, I did not run it inside the fender just incase i ever had a blowout I wouldnt destroy the harness in the process.
I also added a little engine bling in the process

coils were also relocated under the cowel.
