Dah, hood will not close with truck intake
ok, so my hood won't close over the giant truck intake. Other than a cowl hood, what is my cheapest option to fix this?

How much do you need? I can suggest three options to try. But this was a known given the you might or would have hood clearance issue with using. A truck intake. As stated, to to a car intake. Older LS1 intake setup are pretty cheap.
1) You can try and shave any unused flange, ridge and threaded boss. That might get you some room.
2) You can also try and flatten or remove the inner flanges of the hood.
3) Lower the engine/trans

Oh and I need like 3/4" or more. Just a guess though, I don't have the car here to measure exactly
What are the bare essentials needed to swap in the LS1 intake? Do I need to change throttlebody, rails, injectors, water pump, alt, power steering pump and all bracketry? Or is there a cheaper solution?

2002 Yukon 5.3 L59 Flex Fuel. Unsure about the TB but will check tomorrow. Where did you find the LS1 intake so cheap? Or is that a typo?

That is no typo.. most are People are looking for the LS6 intakes ($300-$350 normally).
Many of those looking and have swapped them in are LS1 engine as it is just about a direct swap for them and usually dumps the LS1 pretty cheap..
Check eBay, Craigslist and some of the other Forums for sale sections.

The truck cable throttle is pretty much the same as the LS1. It will bolt right on to the car manifold.
This is a bit dated, but should give you some ideas:

With a little creativity the car intake can be run with the truck water pump. Here are pictures of what I did:
Option 1 (my way):
Details of what I did are here...
To make my method work, you can not use the F-Body throttle body, it HAS to be a truck throttle body. Truck throttle bodies have a smaller "wheel" than the F-Body throttle body which won't interfere with the water pump as much.
Option 2 (the high $ way):
Buy a throttle body spacer which moves the throttle body forward .5 to .75 inches. This clears the upper water neck but cost money and I didn't discover it until after I did mine. The eBay seller I stole the picture form claims a power benefit with these but it's probably snake oil.
BCZEE is right, LS1 intakes are cheap. LS6 and FAST intakes are $$$. I think I paid $90 for a complete (rails, injectors, steam lines and TB) from a 2000 F-Body to use on a project and my bare one was cheaper than that.

2002 will be 3 bolt TB, it will bolt to the LS1 intake.
The standard truck pump will fit a cable TB with a little massaging. An 07+ truck pump will too. If you have DBW, a 98-02 f body pump with spacers, or 2010+ camaro pump (no spacers needed) will be spaced correctly.
LS1 intakes are on craigslist all the time for under $50. Mine included fuel rail, gaskets, and bolts. Btw, the bolts are expensinve.
You can use the flex fuel injectors on the LS1 intake, no mods necessary. The LS1 fuel rails wont reach though. You'll need to use the truck or aftermarket rails with modded hold downs.

Cowl Hood is cheaper.
I added the cost to change over everything to fit under my flat hood, then went to the swap meet and bought a used $75 cowl hood. Problem solved.
Eventually when my bank account has recovered, I will look into a car style intake or painting the hood to match.

I'm currently doing the same thing, and I'm just swapping to a stock LS1 intake because it's the cheapest option and the power from an LS6 doesn't justify the cost in the application. I've thrown LS1 intakes away in the past as have many others, and I found one for free to make my swap from the truck intake. Don't forget to source fuel rails and likely an EGR blockoff plate.

The truck crank pulley and accessories are spaced 3/4" out farther than the f bodys. The f body water pump with 3/4" spacers between the pump and block will put the pulley in alignment with the rest of the pulleys.
Options:
spacers with f body pump (about $100 on ebay)
L99/2010+ camaro pump pump
press the f body pulley farther off the shaft
swap the truck pulley on f body pump
or buy one already done
