Default F-body front drive on truck engine

So looks like the iron 6.0's are different than the aluminum ones. There is no hole in the block for the low mount alternator bracket on the iron one. Has anyone run the alt there and if so how, does someone make a bracket? I may just make my own.

To use a F-body Alt bracket you have to drill and tap a hole where the blank tab is on the lower right of the block(looking at the engine from the front). Also be sure to use a f-body waterpump too !

You can do it without drilling but only if you have the small bracket that bolts to the back of the alternator to the side of the block.
Its not ideal but I ran mine this way for two years with no problems

I just drilled and tapped mine yesterday. Piece of cake.

Here are a couple of links:

No mine has that hole. Doesn't have the middle bolt. The one by the timing cover. Maybe I don't need that one

There is no middle hole. There is a top one and a bottom one.

This picture shows the only two holes you use. The bottom one that has the bolt in it (next to the timing cover) and the top one that was drilled out.

I have both those holes already tapped. If you look at my brack, there is a 3rd bolt just under the pulley that would go into the block. Can I just ignore that one?

Yes, just bolt the 2 and if you have the small back bracket bolt that too and you'll be good.

Default Bracket

Here's a pic of my bracket. The write up that was sent is what I did, even though I did not use the bubble level or the other measuring device. I baught my tapping bit from the auto store not as good as the one I got from Home Depot. Also ensure you are using metric drill bit w/ metric tapping bit or standard with standard. It will make a difference.
