Thoughts on v6 to v8 converson
So I was looking around and wanted to get some opinions, I have some extra money to spend and I was looking to do a v6 to v8 fbody conversion.
So here is what I want to end up doing, and I wanted to get some options to see if its worth it or not. I want to take this LS6 https://sdparts.com/details/scoggin-...r/sdls6sb347sp and http://www.atiracing.com/products/tr...6-proglide.htm transmission and drop it in. Then possibly down the road go with a turbo/procharger setup.
So is it going to be worth it buying a v6 and swapping out the miscellaneous parts for a ls1/6 to work or should i buy a v8 and get the trans rebuilt and upgraded. Then buy the ls6 listed above and drop it in.
There are really no trans Am's / Camaro SS' around in my area that are cheap with good bodies, but there are plenty of base Camaros with high mileage that are only a couple of grand. My budget is about 15g's.
Thoughts? suggestions? I'm all ears! thanks guys!

What are your plans for the car? A powerglide?
Unless you are set on new $3700 will get you something good out of the classifieds here, I certainly wouldn't want to spend that kind of money and only end up with an ls1/6 short block, especially if my project budget were only $15k, since lots of little things add up. What about buying a z28 instead of an SS camaro? Not sure what kind of rear end the v6 cars had, might be something to replace as well.

V6 to V8 conversion is a waste of money and time, trust me I've done it. However, my build kind of went another direction and I couldn't be happier now. Just take some advice from a guy who has literally paddled through **** creek with nothing more than a stick, buy a v8 camaro/transam.
