Default 99 mustang gt 5.3/th400 UPDATE 5-21-14

99 mustang gt was 4.6/t45 now 5.3/t56 AJE k member and swap mounts.
Just finished the swap couple weeks ago. After a long 9 month project trying to juggle bills and get this going its finally up and running.
Everything is stock right now. Cam,turbo stuff later on down the road.

Heres a walk around video.

Nice. How much did the swap cost? how easy/difficult was it?

Must be nice having an LS and actually having some engine bay room lol.

I have about 3300$ in it now. And I still might need to get the Trans rebuilt. I coulda done it a lot cheaper but I bought swap mounts. K member. Bought a couple parts twice. Most parts are brand new. Couple used parts. Did the wiring myself.
The swap itself was easy as hell. Motor Trans went in under 15mins. I used my stock driveshaft. Went vacuum booster. Deleted abs, hardest part about the swap was the clutch pedal. Switching from cable to hydraulic I'm having to mess around with the clutch master cylinder. Trans is acting goofy cause the clutch won't disengage all the way so I just have to mess around with it some more.

Congrats on finishing. What is your overall impression on the 5.3 vs the 4.6? Also, which accessory drive is that? I'm wanting to switch mine from the truck to car for my turbo install.

Honestly ill get back with you on that. It's open manifolds right now. And I have to mess around with the clutch to get the full effect.
But with the iron 6.0 heads on it there's no way of knowing. But when I get the alum 5.3 heads back on I'm sure there's gonna be a difference with that.
My accessory drive is all f body stuff. Water pump is from eBay. Ps pump and crank pulley is autzone. And I bought a used fbody alt. everything else (bracket wise) is from eBay. (Nook and tranny) and you where right! The stock driveshaft is the perfect length.

I used a 240sx clutch master cylinder. Welded a little bracket to the stock mustang pedal. Cut a hole in the firewall and mounted it there.

What manifolds did you use? Any pictures of the steering shaft clearance?

I used 2010 camaro ss manifolds and dumps. I don't have any pics but I can take some tomorrow.
There are some clearance issues that needs to be addressed, I ground down some of the flange to clear the shaft. Then I re drilled one of the mounting holes to clear the bolt.

Was having some issues with long cranks. Swapped out the cam sensor, same issue. I was reading that I could have a broken wire. So I checked the harness at the connector and found that I had pinched a couple wires while tightening the bolts down. So I pulled the harness and cut another hole in the firewall to re route the harness and it now tightly tucks in the glovebox. Connected everything of ether and cranked up first try with no problem.
Now just have to mess with the clutch pedal some more.

Very cool. If you could take some pictures around the shaft, I'd greatly appreciate it! Did you run dumps right off the manifolds or did you use an x-pipe first? If you used an x-pipe, did you modify a mustang one?

Yea ill snaps some pics. When I say Dumps. There part of the stock exhaust from the camaro headers. I'm going to use my catless x pipe and mustang stock exhaust.

Can you also post some pics of your glovebox and mounting method for the ECU? I'm also gonna move mine into the glovebox. Thanx,Mark.

Wow that looks really close! How far away does the flange sit from the manifold flange? Are you running solid engine mounts?

It sits pretty dam close for my liking. But whatever. I just grinded down some of it and tried to shave some off the shaft but that didn't work. It doesn't hit at all while driving (as far as I can tell) I'm running solid motor mounts. And Trans. All AJE stuff

Update: took the stang out and got the exhaust put on. Man is it quiet. Sounds like a stock Tahoe or something lol. Then went and got an alignment.

She runs pretty good. Trans was working pretty good when I went and got the exhaust out on but now it won't go into 3rd. Idk pos gonna get it rebuilt one of these days.

Pretty funny seeing people's reactions when they see the lsx in there.

Would you pm'ing me your build list? I'm looking to do a fox body with about an $8000 budget. But if you only have about $3300 in it....I might be able to swing that. I already have a LS1 and a T-56.
