Question 1990 300zx LSZ (Pic Heavy - 180)

I have been doing this swap for a while and just haven't put any pictures up or said much about it on here. It's mainly been on 3ZC but it seems to be overlooked a bunch because it isn't a Nissan motor in a Nissan. -_- So anyways. It is a 1990 300zx with 203k that I found at a Chevy dealership. I bought it at around this time last year and drove it home on 4 cylinders because of dead injectors. Got it running and drove it for a few months but the motor was pretty much shot with 100-120PSI in 4 of 6 cylinders. My first plan was to get it running good with another motor and make it a clean car, but that quickly changed as I realize working on the VG30DE was awful and the best way to upgrade the motor was to swap to a VG30DETT and put $$$$$ of money into it to make decent power. So I found a complete 5.3 with wiring harness and computer for 650 and I started on this. Original plan was to run a 4L60E but I found someone who was making an plate to adapt the stock Z32 trans to the LSX so I went that route as the stock Z32 trans are pretty tough. Still waiting on the adapter plate to be finished. It's been a slow process but it is slowly coming together. I've only driven this car around 2000 miles since I've had it. The pictures are pretty much from the start of the car about a year ago.

Ive always loved that smoother 300z body. It was pretty streamlined compared to the other cars of the late 80s/early 90s. Awesome build! subd!

Nice build... I prefer the 300 to the 350 and 370.

looks like your has come a long way! Like to see all the pictures! Amazing documentation! did you have any fitment issues with the headers hitting the lower intermediate steering shaft?? mine did lol had to buy a second one since i dropped the middle piece of the subframe! had to make that 3 inches longer and now it fits but the manifold hits the shaft so im going to cut out an opening for it to fit and be able to turn. later on ill get some custom headers made! Whats the progress looking like on yours? whats left? is she getting close to being done?

Are you saying you dropped you crossmember 3 inches? I dropped mine one and I have plenty of clearance on my steering shaft with the CTSV manifold. I will never use headers as it will be a turbo car eventually. Progress: Waiting on adapter plate which will determine what clutch I use and a few other small things that add up to me just needing the money to finish as well as the time. Gotta add my DS 02 sensor back that I accidentally cut out.

An update on this would be fantastic. I just scrolled through 4 million unorganized photos, and I have no idea how this ends!!!! It's going to drive me crazy! XD

Awesome build. I am in the beginning of mine... trying to figure out where to go and what to do. Moving to the LSx platform opens up so many more possibilities and options.

What steering rack is that? And why did you switch?
The transmission adapter is pretty sweet! How is that working out?

Awesome build. I'm doing the same thing except to a 260z and I need the adapter plate. Can you point me out to the place that's making the adapter plate for you, please. It would definitely be a great help. Thanks ... And again awesome build!

I used the factory steering rack. I've been working on it just haven't taken to many picture lately. Cranked it yesterday but still have finishing touches to do. Swapped in a 3.357 350Z differential thanks to the help of dts300z. Uses a rb25 flywheel mated to a flywheel spacer, shorten the shifter to come out of the dash in the stock spot, and if the hood was closed and the car wasn't running it looks completely stock. All stock gauges used but the speedometer needs and adapter to adjust for the rear end gearing. Video of it cranking. Would not recommend the guy I used for making my adapter plate.
