I'm a believer in red line products, would get their break-in oil additive and your conventional oil of choice. I've always changed the break-in oil ~50 miles. Always have read to run the engine ~2k rpm to break in the cam at first start up.

Would love to hear more profession responses.

LS roller cams don't really need that old 2K RPM break in. Does the manufacturer of your rotating assembly suggest anything in particular?

If it were mine, I'd run cheap synthetic while it idles to operating temp. Maybe put it around the block once, then change it for whatever quality oil you plan to run for the rest of the engine's life.

Exactly what mind suggested. I picked it up at autozone and ran that for the first 150 miles. Then changed to a regular 10w30 conventional till 500miles which I then started using VR1 Racing 10w30 which is what ill likely stick with.

Definetly no synthetic for a few thousand miles. I struggled deciding between joe gibbs break in oil and all those types but settled on what my builder and then tuner suggested. I did buy WIX oil filters since they are one of the best.

Joe Gibbs break in oil, Joe Gibbs LS oil after break in. Lots of clever builders use this stuff.

We've been using the break in oil and its been fine but im still running the Castrol 0w30 for daily use with a little bit of ZDDP added.
