Default truck starter for more header clearance

I have read that a truck starter is smaller than the stock f-body starter. Another nice bonus is that it uses the 2 long bolts. Does anyone have a part number? I think I can use a starter from a 1500 Silverado with a 5.3?

thanks

All of them are pretty much interchangeable. Check RockAuto, they carry a brand new unit for like 70 bucks. I can't say how long they last, but its been working for a few months on my car.

Thanks. It looks like it'll be a bitch to change out once the headers are installed, so I was going to go with an AC Delco unit. This is the one I'm likely going with:

Another small, strong, inexpensive starter to consider:

Thanks Mike. I saw that one as well. Does anyone know the dimensional differences (total length, width) of the 2 starters compared?

I'd just go into Autozone, ask to see the two starters side by side, compare them, and see if one of them is smaller.

I used one from ebay. Was like 79 buck mini-starter. Came from Tn and works great. Uses a 2 long bolts. I was worried because the price was so cheap but they work great!
