Default 4.8 turbo mustang build

I bought this car as a roller a few months ago from a member here. I have been slowly building a 4.8 turbo ls with a glide for it. I'm sure most will know the car.

The car as I brought it home.

Starting the install of what I thought was a 5.3

fabbing up a turbo mount so I can have a point to build all my cold and hot side off of. It's a t76 cx racing turbo with 96ar.

Hotside coming along.

Inside my ypipe where turbo mounts.

Started tigging my intercooler piping together. I'm not the greatest tig welder but it will hold.

getting there.

BOV tigged in and turbo smart 45mm wastegate installed.

I'm stopping here for now. The car is finished and in test and tune stage.I have tons of pics of my build and will post it all but don't want to all at once as it would be to much all at once.

Here's my custom fabbed throttle bracket for using stock fox throttle cable.

tigged a bung into the oil fill in the valve cover for oil catch can line.

After mockup I pulled the engine back out of the car to start the engine build. This is where I got my surprise when I pulled the heads and seen it had flattop pistons dang it's a 4.8 not a 5.3 oh well.

LS9 head gaskets and head studs going on.

Got a used comp cam that specs 232-236 .595-.601 it's a little big and a set of used dual trickflow valve springs.

Oil drain plumbed into the new fbody oil pan.Oil feed also plumbed in.

I just removed the flat steel tab from the throttle body cam and tig welded a ball in its place then made the cable holder that mounts to the intake. The pedal action is smooth with no hard spots. It didn't quit open all the way up so had to make a shim to remove slack in the cable at the accelerator pedal.

I used a stock v8 cable with a ls6 intake. I drilled the webbing and added a washer. Everything lined up fine.

Plumbing the cooling system with AN fittings. This was a more costly idea than I had thought.

-16 water outlet bung welded in water pump.

After not being able to look at the cut up stock ls harness any more I cut it all from the car and went holley hp efi.

What car looked like during rewiring process. Man what a mess.

Engine back in for the final time.

Holley ecu mounted to the heater box.

Holley boost solenoinds mounted.

Used my accelerator bracket to double as a vacuum block mounting point.

BOV and IAT bungs welded in.

Headed wraping my hotside to keep under hood temps down.

Few pics of it mostly finished.

Here's a short video link of it's first start up after getting some things straight in the holley tune.
http://s200.photobucket.com/user/jak...78f3b.mp4.html

Well after I started driving it around the radiator in the car wasen't enough so I bought a big griffin dual pass and it was a pain to fit in in front of the core support.Lot's of trimming of the nose support and some on the core support sides.

Added speed holes in bumper for more cooling.

Also added a sump to the stock tank.

Here it is back in one piece.

Here's a crappy cell phone video of it's first outing. Had trouble with boost spike at gear change and would shut car down cause of boost safety and converter is way tight cause I told ptc I had a 5.3 which was a 4.8 so it's got to come back out for ptc to loosen it up. I got the boost spike figured out also. In the video you won't here the car shift, that's because I turned the rev limiter to 7500 and left it in 1st gear all the way down turning 7450 through the traps. Only way I could get a clean pass in due to boost spike. It went 7.18 at 100mph but will soon be mid 6's I hope with more tuning, more boost and looser converter. This run was 14 psi boost and 15 degrees of timing.

Thanks man. I wanted it also. I bought it as a roller cause didn't really need the big motor for what I wanted to do.
I bought a alkycontrol meth kit that's going on after I get the converter reflashed. Hope this little 4.8 gets me to my goal of 10.0 in the quarter for dragweek this year. I don't have nhra license so that's as fast as I can go. The Holley is user friendly and they have great tech support.

It's a custom color. It's kind of a metallic pearl teal color.

Got converter back in and went to TNT Saturday night. I started off kind of rocky with a slow 7.28 at 98mph. 14 degrees of timing 15 psi boost.

So I put 2 degrees of timing in it for a total of 16. this run is 16 psi boost.

After that run I was like were getting some where so we put 2 more degrees of timing for total of 18.

I was like this thing is liking some timing but left it at 18 degrees and bumped boost to 18psi but got out of grove and it didn't hook but still mad improvement.

The track closed before we could put more timing and boost and try for a better time but I feel it's got a 6.10 or 6.20 in it.I was running on C16 race gas.

Here's a quick pick of the car before I loaded it up to go to the track. It's actually clean so I got a pic.

Thanks man. I'm trying to get this thing right and get it ready for the road as I'm in for drag week 2014. The road miles at drag week are brutal so trans cooling and engine cooling have got to be in great shape. I only have about 50 road miles on it since build so I need to get out and cruise this thing to make sure it can make the 200-250 miles everyday at DW.

Got my alky control kit installed and decided to go make a 1/4 mile hit on it. The track didn't have much prep work and had a hard time getting it to hook. I ened up running a 10.08 at 138mph with a shitty 1.54 60ft should have been 1.40 if track would have been prepped. Here's a shitty cell phone video of the pass.
