Exhaust size question

Exhaust size question
Curious as to y'alls opinion on exhaust pipe size for my build. This will be going into a 66 C10.
It's currently a stock LQ4 with 1-7/8" mid length DT's. Plan for it later will possibly be H/C/I and a tune.
I'm thinking about using the FlowMaster U-Fit kit so that I can fit it how I want and weld it up myself. My question is should I spend the extra $20 and run full 3" (my collectors are also 3") or just stick with the 2.5"?
Is there any advantage for that extra half inch? I could see the disadvantage being space and fitment in tight spaces.
Thoughts?

yea that's what I decided upon. I'm assuming I should also go with an X-pipe over an H-pipe? The kit comes with an H-pipe, but everything I've read says go with an X instead?

Since this is only "temporary" exhaust, you will end up tearing half of it or all out depending on where you run your down pipe for the turbo. Unless you run a TT setup and want full exhaust. So spend accordingly.
