Question LS Swap A BODY Front Accessories - 66 LeMans

Hey Guys,

Were making alot of progress and cant thank the forum enough as you have been a wealth of information. I have alot of pictures I have been taking along the way and will start a build thread shortly.

When we bought the motor it came with only the power steering pump and alternator. Can we use the truck accessories? I am trying to figure out which water pump to get. Were not so much concerned about looks right now as long as it all functions properly. The motor we think is out of an 04 tahoe, which is what the guy told us that we bought it from, but he also said it was a 5.3 and it turns out its a 4.8. So with that being said, if any one has any advice on the front accessories they used I would appreciate it as I am not sure where to go from here.

Thanks,
Allan

A 4.8 and 5.3 are identical. All truck accessories will fit a 4.8 no matter where they came from. 6.0 5.3 4.8... The accessories are all the same. If you are wondering if they'll clear in your car they should. The ac compressor is an iffy... But other than that they should all clear without modification.

Tahoes never came with a 4.8L, so the guy lied about that. Anyway...

I would get the Holley alternator bracket and reuse your alternator, and get a Corvette style water pump and balancer.

I don't think the truck alternator or intake will fit under your hood. As said above the Holley accessory bracket kit will fit your A body very nicely, but you will need to purchase a different power steering pump and reservoir setup for it. The truck alternator will work with the Holley kits.

C5 Vet stuff fits well.
I used 2010 Camaro L99(auto tranny w/VVT) intake and water pump, Truck ac compressor and crank pulley, vet PS pump and ALT. I had spaced the Vet bracket off the head 1.5" in order to line it all up.
67 skylark, rh head is 1 inch from firewall.

Chevelles are tight at the steering box ,,these pullies allow for the stock truck pump use ,,,http://www.ebay.com/itm/170914742263?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT but you will still have the intake manifold issue ,,, chevelles are tight there allso

Default dirty dingo brackets

I purchased one of the dirty dingo bracket kits. Check them out, they have kits for whatever you want to run accessory wise, also they have a high mount p/s bracket that uses a 90-95 1500 truck p/s pump and reservoir with the L's series pulley. Or you can use another set up of Theirs to use the ls pump and reservoir with a smaller pulley they offer too.

I chose the latter solution for my '65 skylark, but haven't put it in the car yet.

I am interested in redoing my accessory package but in the above picture it looks like the power steering reservoir will be in the way of my cold air intake. It runs to the drivers side. I would like to retain the power steering pump I now have that has the pump and reservoir as one unit.

I had to run the smaller PS pump pulley on my 67 Chevelle but other than that everything looks as it will clear. 6.0 truck engine and acc drive.

Not to thread jack or anything but is that just the Holley alternator/PS pump bracket and the rest is truck stuff? Was modification to the fuel rail covers needed? Sorry I don't know if its your pic or just one from the web. I have a similar situation but with the GTO/f body accessories and I need to get away from the low alternator and I want to cleanly run the covers without cutting them up to clear.

I just did a swap on my 66 chevelle. I used dirty dingo motor mount sliders and the stock truck accessories. Everything clears just fine but i didn't run the AC compressor so i cant help you out with that. I did have to swap to a slightly smaller power steering pulley so it would clear but that's it. The alternator and intake cleared my stock hood just fine

All the detail you would ever need:

After you spaced the bracket away from the head 1.5” what bolts did you use? They still look like factory bolts from the picture.
