1988 Astrovan M-Body swapped with 98-02 F-Body LS1
I'll be swapping out the 4.3L V6 in my daily driver, a 1988 2WD Chevy Astrovan, with an LS1 from a 98-02 F-Body and the matching 4l60E. Before the install, I plan to upgrade the cam for improved performance, and sound at idle. I'm scheduled to pull the V6 beginning in May. I've discovered several threads on engine swaps for 90's Astrovans, but very little on the late 80's. If you know any people to contact or threads to read before I get started, please send them my way...

There used to be a company in Canada (and maybe others) that made kits to fit an old-style SBC in Astro vans. Maybe their site would give you some ideas about clearance issue and how to solve them.

Back when I lived in south Florida circa 1999-2000 I helped a friend swap a 350 into an Astro van. I believe it was an 80's vehicle given it was already somewhat old by the time we did the swap. He used motor mounts from Jags the Run and second gen Camaro headers. Everything pretty much bolted in perfect. Granted an LS is a different engine, but I don't see it being a hard swap. You may even be able to use second gen Camaro swap headers.
