The 6ll80 has the tcm in the trans. The 4l80 harness is specific since the t42 tcm required is separate. You will need a 4l80 harness for it to work.

The vans had 4L80 behind LY6 so that harness will have a T42 TCM connector and 4L80 connector on it.

07-08 had the 4L80 in 2wd 6.0 vans. I have one but it's a mess. It can be reworked but some of the stuff runs through the BCM or a separate harness making the rework a little more involved than older harnesses. They also started changing over pedals as I found out. Mid year and fleet changes might make adapting your pedal a little more complicated also. The only reason I know is because I just went through it.

Deleting VVT is easy. You dont even need a new harness. Just a new cam, cam gear, and front cover. The tune might need a new OS loaded without VVT but is very doable. The E38 had both VVT and non VVT so its capable of both.

Why would you want delete the VVT if you are keeping everything stock? It's 2 extra wires and a plug in the harness and there is an advantage to running it. The only reason to delete it is to run an aftermarket cam or there is a tuning conflict.

Sorry to hear that. There is just no reason to delete it in your application. VVT has been proven to increase performance under the curve. You already had the hardware and ecm it's as easy as connecting 2 wires to the phaser like stock. Making it run in a retro fit should not affect the VVT whatsoever.

Here is what I am not sure of but there is some info on the net. If you leave the hardware in but don't control it, it will leave the cam in the fully advanced position. This will give good low end but will go soft up top.
