very nice. its so tempting to sell my T/A and build a LS1 FD. off topic, but do you know if its possible to keep A/C in a LS1 FD?

Good luck getting over 150mph...the only problem with the LS1 FD is the gearing.

I think 147 is the fastest you can go in a 4.11 LS1 FD.

Congrats on the run, I think you started on your car around the time I bought mine.

I don't see where you get that from...going to the 7k rpm redline it'll hit 176 in 5th...and i'm sure being a light car and all..it'll pull a lil in 6th..this depending on the rear tire size.

are you talking about 150 mph in the 1/4? if so, i could care less; i ain't into drag racing. this is open track car. and i have 3.90 gears going in next month.

Nice 10's once again!

Brandon- weight has nothing to do with the top end potential of a car. It is all aerodynamics and HP. Bonneville guys add a few hundred pounds to their cars to keep traction at high speeds on the salt.

I about topped out 5th gear in my LS1/FD with 3:90's which was nearly 175mph. It was still pulling. My kahones were not big enuf to go faster.

well..tahts my point...bonneville guys are running faster..to the point where the force to accelerate through the wind is to high...so the car spins the tires, but going 150 in a rx7...that isn't gonna happen. lighter weight can make the top speed higher or atleast easier to get too. Like a stock fbody has a lower top speed then a stock ls1 in a rx7.

gnx7, how stable did the car feel at those speeds? for ORR, i want to work up to the 160mph speeds(top speed of around 180 if i remember right). at those speeds, gearing and aerodynamics decide the speed possible, weight mainly determines how long it takes to get to those speeds

so let me get this straight you are saying that an fd (1993+ RX7) isnt capable of exceeding 150 mph, or that a ls1/t56 powered fd isnt capable of breaking that speed mark.

I hope you are kidding, mark just stated his top speed and there are numerous videos (including one rather infamous one on the salt flats involving a black shop rx7) of fd's exceeding 175mph.

As far as comparing how an FD feels at 150 to an f-body i would have to say you feel the road a little more in the fd but it felt a little more in control. Neither was as scary as i expected, they feel very different at that speed in terms of safety/sense of ability to deal with a situation they felt very similar. I havent exceeded those speeds in either car but many people report that in the FD without aftermarket aerodynamics parts the vehicle starts to feel ""light"" at around 160 however an aftermarket wing and a front bumper that is actually functional as well as for looks will help alleviate this feeling

Don't kid yourselfs guys, a stock bodied T/A is an excellent ORR car if you take the stock suspension and throw it away It's one of the very best cars for this purpose. The very fastest of unlimited ORR cars (230+ mph) are 4th gen fbodys. There is a reason why this is so. BTW camaro's need a new rear wing to work well. Stock WS6 wing is the ticket
