few motor mount/oil pan/trans x member ls1-mustang swap
Im putting an ls1 into a fox stang (eventually) and ive noticed 2 different ways to do it. One was to use an AJE crossmember setup for a SBC and get adapter plates and the other was to use the 4.6L crossmember and modify the LS1 motor mount some. Will the end result be the same both ways?
Also, I have been getting spotting info while searching for oil pan clearance issues w/ the above k members. Ive read of them being modified but then I read other posts that they clear fine.
last but not least, did you guys have to totally redesign the trans crossmember or could you just grind the spot welds and move the crossmember back??
Thanks much
Dave

ok what k member and mounts did you use? I was looking around on websites and they all list the Kmemebers as 79-04 yet people are saying to use the 4.6 k member. Are they different?

I'm pretty sure I used a 4.6 GT crossmember on mine(sold the car a year ago), and like was mentioned, grinded the spot-welds so that it slides back and forth. Made a plate and welded it in for the mount, drilled a hole, and was done.
Good luck with the car!

By far the easiest way is to use a 4.6L K-member, and 4.6L motor mounts. It basically bolts in -- all you have to modify is one bolt hole of the motor mounts.

I test fit a couple, but nothing fits "perfectly" yet. I'm going to try getting a hold of a couple sponsors who make headers, and see if they'd be interested in building a jig off a set I'm customizing. That way it'd be nothin' but a part number
