Default 1988 And Earlier LS Shootout!

CALLING OUT ALL LS-POWERED VINTAGE CHEVYS FOR SUPER CHEVY MAGAZINE SHOOTOUT!

Everyone asks, “How do I get in the magazine?” Well here is your chance. The popularity of retrofitting an LS motor into a vintage bowtie is growing, so we are conducting an invitation-only shootout.

WHERE- The event will be held at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ during a weekday.

For all seriously interested parties, please email Dan Ryder of Super Chevy Magazine:

Daniel.Ryder@Primedia.com

Please include your name, address, contact numbers, vehicle type, estimated track ET, and photo of car if possible.

SORRY TO THE 1989 AND LATER CROWD-PLEASE DON'T SHOOT THE MESSENGER.
OTHER SHOOTOUTS WILL BE CONDUCTED IN THE FUTURE.

Can't make it out to the Garden State. Somewhere in the mid-west, and we may have been able to, but that is a long haul.

No, the LS engine platform is considered a GM Corporate engine. It is shared by just about all of the GM brands.

I would said that the correct name as GM states it, is "Gen III" and "Gen IV" engines. The Block that they market is called and listed as the LSX block. All other names are just street names that many call the Gen III and IV engines. LSx is a very common name to use for any Gen III/IV engine. And it seem that a lot of people call the LQ9, LQ4, LM7, and other's a "LS1" engine, which is incorrect. As you have seen ad's in Ebay and other (Craigslist, etc).

Yep, unless I know its a late model GM guy that I am talking to I just say my car has a LS1. It saves soooooo much time, because if I say LM7, or GEN III SBC no one (well except the late model GM guys) has any clue what I am talking about. I have had many times where I spent 15 minutes explaining to someone what a GEN III SBC is and at the end I can see that in reality I just wasted 15 minutes and they still don`t know exactly what I am talking about.
