Default 6.0L LQ9 + Magnacharger into '94 Caprice

Im using S & P modified Camaro pan & pickup, mounts and headers. So far the motor is just sitting on the mounts, and looks like I will have to notch the firewall a bit for the J-pipe to clear. Here is a pic of me mocking it up

Thats got lots of potential to be bad ***. As long as its not lifted up on 22 inch "rimzz" then it'll be cool.

I'm building my LSx caprice too...I'm going a different route than you, but I think thats going to be very cool when you're done (and you'll be done WAY before me I bet).

I agree...no 22's on mine lol...I'm thinking 18's will be perfect though.

What are you doing for the harness and what trans are you going to use? I also have a 94 DCM caprice and a 96 DCM Impala SS. I would eventually like to install an LQ9 in my 94. I figured I would wait until the 4L60 dies.

I run 1.8" thick hubcentric and wheel-centric adapter/spacers, and z06 front brakes as well..The wheels are 18" all around, (all rear vette wheels) with 285x40x18 Pirellis.

At the track I take off rear adapter/spacers and I bolt on a set of 15x10 weld wheels with 5.5" of backspace, with 28x11.5 Hoosier's

I've seen your car over on the Impalassforum. I'm installing a Ly6 6.0l using the L92 Truck intake into my 1996 Impala. Will your hood fit? It appears to be the same size as a stock hood.

Awesome man! I just get worried when i see cars like caprice's and crown vic's. I guess its because i live in memphis and every time you see a car like that with anything done to it, it's got a lift and ~22 inch gay *** wheels.

Keep up the good work!

Why are you using that Magnacharger instead of one that would fit under the hood? Looks used; did it come with the engine?

I'll follow the progress on the SS forum.

Its a Magnacharger Radix kit for a Silverado SS

Got some updates for all as well, now biggest piece of the puzzle is the transmission and if its going to push the motor forwards or not. These S & P mounts have abougt 1.5" of play on the motor mounts, and if the motor goes too far forward the power steering pulley will hit the gearbox. Waiting on the converter as well, hopefully next week both will get here.

Did you happen to get a good deal on that blower for the Silverado? Im not sure why you didnt just go with one from a C6 or a Goat.

Default update

Finished re-working the wiring harness, started with a truck harness with blue and green plugs, re-pinned the green plug to a red plug, got a '01 Camaro computer so it'll work with a 4L60E, then took all the wiring out that I dont need, and mated it to the factory fusebox and 4 external GM weatherpack relays for fans, fuel pump, and a/c compressor.

Also picked up 4L60E from fbperformance.com, now just waiting on the converter to put it all in. I figure I cant continue now because I dont know if the motor is going to move forward or not, so I cant make hoses, route wires, or know if truck power steering pump will hit the gearbox or not, so im not doing any more work until trans is bolted in.

For those wondering why motor can move forward, the S&P mounts have about 1.5" of extra space ear-to-ear on the mount, so once the engine position is finalized with transmission sitting on its crossmember, I will have to make spacers and tighten up the mounts.

I'm currently working on my truck harness for my 96 Impala. What is the air tube that runs through the dash harness into the car for? Does the other end plug into the intake?

Default update

Allright, made a lot of progress this week. Bolt the tranny up, and turned out crossmember didnt reach the mount by about 1.5". We left the tranny on a jack, and I took the crossmember to a place that does iron work, i drew them a diagram and they made a new mount support out of a 1/4" c-channel.

Then it turned out the trans mount was ripped, so i coudlnt bolt up the mount. I got new mount, and i put it in last night, connected the tranny cooler lines, shifter linage, and measured the driveshaft, which turned out 3/4" too short, so I need to order one tomorrow.

Today I spent all day working on it. I connected gearbox to the power steering pump, heater core hoses to the water pump, fuel lines to the fuel rail, changed intake gaskets on the supercharger which got ruined from me mocking it up 20 times and bolted it down. put a thin layer of silicone on supercharger feed pipe, and bolted that down as well. Then I bolted the coolant crossover tube, and put the accessory belt on, and main thing is that I started laying the wiring on the motor and plugging everything in. Enjoy some pics.
