I shipped a complete 383 with trans, dist, carb, everything last year. I built a wooden box out of 3/4"m plywood. Used 2x4's under it to give it strength and cut it the plywood to hug the engine tight. It was screwed together. This ensures that nothing will get stolen off it as well. Josh

I did the same. Counting the time to buy the stuff, build the box, help the freight company get it loaded, etc..., I bet I had 8 hrs in it

I would suggest the box to, but you could use a smaller(half) pallet as your base and build your box on top of that. Any local hardware/home improvement store should have them.

It was about the same for me, but its the best way to go. I had maybe 75 bucks or less in the materials but it is cheap insurance. I built a small support under the oil pan to support the engine and ran some 2x4's across the valve covers to keep it from moving.

Question International shipping.

I'm buying a 6L vortec engine at e-aby, and the seller offer it only for local pick up, he sayd that if I want it I would need to arrange shipping and handeling, he don't even have it on a pallet. Is there any company that can go to pick it up and put it on a pallet??

Default Removing and shipping an engine.

Does anyone knows a company that can go to pick up and remove an engine from a car? Or what can I do?

I dont think you are going to find a company that is going to do that. The shipper is going to need to put it on a pallet for them.
