Accessory drive (yet again...)
Good morning,
I have searched, searched, and searched again. I am looking for an accessory drive for my iron 408 LSX motor. It is swapped into a 63 nova and I want to run something very clean. Right now my alternator is mounted on the drivers side down low and I want to keep it that way. What I am looking to do is this:
1) I only want to run an alternator, no other accessories.
2) Run an electric water pump.
Is it possible to have a belt go directly from the crank to the alternator? Would I need to fab my own brackets?
What other solutions do I have? I found the car shop kit but it looks plain jane for the $500 they want. Does anyone have any suppestions?
Thanks!
Jamin

If you run a belt tensioner it should be on the slack side (which would be about where the waterpump is) so that makes it a bit more complicated.

Steel Brackets for LS1
I found this recently in an article Super Chevy did. Thier site isnt up so you would have to call. Looks like they have both the A/C and the Alternator high mounts.

I think this link is the same place though.

Does anyone know if you can even get a belt that short? Say if I went around the crank and then directly to a low mount alternator?
I appreciate everyones ideas, I will look into them tonight. I have no problem fabing an adjustable bracket.... I might go that route when the motor gets back from the shop. I dont mind buying a kit but I dont really need any accessories, and with the elect. water pump it would look CLEAN with the belt around the crank and alt. only.
Keep the ideas coming and I will let you know what progress I make. Thanks!!!

That is exactly what I am looking for. They even give belt lengths on the instructions. This was perfect, you actually made my day! I appreciate all of the help. Now I just need to bite the bullet and order that elect. water pump! Thank you for the help. I will post up pictures once I get everything together. Thanks again and merry Christmas.
