1986 El Camino 98 LS! Headers??
Has anybody heard of headers that will work on ls1 (98 trans am) into G body (86 el camino). Live in Ca and gonna have to see emission referee already (taking a fifth of Jack for bribe). Think we'll call this one a tramino.

Re: 1986 El Camino 98 LS! Headers??
John, I know you are right about a specific header for ls1 to camino. What I am looking for is whether there the f body headers will drop in. Talked to summitt, their theory is order a set don't scratch them if they fit bolt them up, if not rebox and send back. See some guys using lt headers, will they fit on ls1 exhaust ports?

Re: 1986 El Camino 98 LS! Headers??
Elcamino, I have a 86MonteSS w/ Hooker LT's. They are street legal in All 50 states, because they have the emmisions piping to hook up. On drivers side fit perfectly, on pass side #4 or second back tube hits frame, I dented tube slightly and fits fine, sounds awsome
You didn't state whether you we're using A4 or M6? Might make a difference not sure, I have A4.

Do the ports on lt headers match ports on ls1 head? Am using l460e. Travel bout 20 days a month for job, getting home Sat., finally get back on it. Were the headers you put on designed for the monte or were they for the f body. Got a welding budy coming over to notch crossmember, finish cleaning, painting and drop ls in.

My headers were for a 98-99 F-Body, not sure about LT1's.
But don't think they match or everyone else would be doing it.

elcamino: I think you are confusing the "LT" which means Long Tube headers, with the old LT1 engine. LT1 headers would not match up at all on LS1 heads.

Re: 1986 El Camino 98 LS! Headers??
John,
You are right. Still getting up to speed on acronyms. Thanks for the info. Was going to order headers last night and see that there is 3 different ones for camaros. 98-99, 2000, 2001-2002. Do you have any idea what would be the difference between them?
Gary
