6.0L LQ4 into 1985 Silverado 4x4 LWB?
I've got a fully loaded mint 1985 Silverado, the truck is two wheel drive currently but this past weekend I bought a complete 4 wheel drive frame with all the drivetrain, mint condition. Since it's sitting in the garage with nothing but the frame I thought doing a 6.0L swap would be easy and good to do even just to save a little on gas. How hard would it be to drop one in there and wire it up? Also would a 4L80E transmission out of a newer 4 wheel drive work and bolt up to my transfer case? I'm thinking it won't but maybe one of you guys know for sure. I've got dual tanks to so doing an inline fuel pump along the frame rail after the transfer pump would be the way to go correct? I plan on buying the whole engine, wiring, computer, accessories and everything together so I have all I need. I think this would be pretty cool in an older lifted 4 wheel drive. Thoughts?

I'm putting a 6.0/4l80 in my 86 swb 2wd.
Intank walbro, getting rid of 2nd tank. I don't trust that switching valve, but I know one guy who runs his with no problem on a 5.3 swap in his 86. I'll let him be the test mule.
Sounds like a good project.

6 months ago along with two brand new tanks so I'm not sure which way to go yet. I'd like to find a write up on one of these swaps for a 4 wheel drive, would you happen to know of any? Good luck on your swap!

I dont know any 4wd swaps, should be the same, except for tranny, check out performancetruck.net and 67-72chevytrucks.com
I got the motor mounts off ebay, or the guy that sells them is a sponsor on this site, car shop inc. they have a website also carshopinc.com
link to plates : http://carshop.carshopinc.com/produc...id/74328/LS1GM
You could do 2 intank pumps, or one external after valve...
check out ls1truck.com, lots of swap info there also.
Good luck to you as well.

doing 1 now in a 79 K30 single wheel. advance adapters of northern auto parts sells motor mounts. i am using my th400/205 adapter and tcase. i had my local machine shop turn my embossing ring down about .009 to be able to slide in the tranny. i also lucked out and got a 2wd 4L80e with the long output shaft that is fully splined. other than that, my tranny and tcase will bolt together. lets see some pics of your truck

I'll post some pics here in the next few days. So Northern sells the correct mounts for our trucks, that makes life easier. I've read on here the tranny will bolt up but only one hole won't line up so you have six instead of seven. Also there is something different with the flywheel but I'll have to do some more digging. Thanks for the info!

I'm not sure if this is completely a different direction or a lil too involved financially/mechanically but a Duramax swap would be awesome I've seen a few around, and you'd get good mileage too.
