'06 corvette engine with a 6 speed harness and a '05 4L60E trans, what to make work?
Hee there everyone,
Almost and finally ready to buy an engine for my conversion.
I can get a very low mile '06 corvette LS2 engine, but i came from a 6 speed car. I want a auto trans, so the seller offers me a 4L60E trans from a '05 corvette with trans harness and computer.
Only the engine wiring and computer is still from the 6 speed car.
What do I need to do to make it work?
- Reflash the computer to a '06 A4 car?
Can I reflash this myself with HP tuners VCM suite? or?
need some final answesr to make this buy...
Thanks
Peter

The 2006 LS2 from a vette, will be a 58x reluctor wheel motor, so your stuck with using a E38/E67 ecm, and them matching TCM to go with it, a 2006 GTO LS2 will be a 24x reluctor wheel, (like older LS1's) and you will need an ECM/TCM to go with them.
I would not try to mix and match engines across this year range, and I agree with contacting speartech, they can get you going with the info you will need.

Ok, here it is.
The '06 engine that is offered to me will get the '05 corvette trans directly bolted to the engine block.
They take the center trans body (from Corvette) They add a tail shaft housing, new torque converter, flyweel and sensor in tail shaft housing from an 05-06 GTO.
The '05 trans harness and trans controll module is included, but the engine harness is from a 6 speed, so I have to get it reworked and the engine computer repprogrammed.
Will this setup work with the E38/E67 ecm?
Thanks
Peter

Quit typing call john at speartech, you could have had an answer by now and know instead of still be hunting here. Most of us can help however you have very specific questions that need very correct answers in order to keep you from making a mistake that could crash your whole project.

Ok the trans assembly as they are building it for you will work. Basicaly they have to add the tailshaft housing, bellhousing and torque converter and it is the correct trans you will need. As far as I know from my dealings with these in coming and going once the tcm is reprogrammed and the harness modified everything transmission wise will work fine. I may be wrong but I am also under the assumption that the pcm will also need some sort of flash work in order to know to look for the TCM on the databus in order to correctly communicate with the pcm and control the transmission. I didn't mean to come off sounding like a dick the first time. I was in a hurry at work when I typed it and checked back later only to see how bad I came off sounding.

Thanks for checking back on me, I share your thoughts on the transmission. I will go for this setup and rework the harness or buy a new one.
I have to have the computer flashed, I wonder if I can do this myself with HP Tuners...
Thanks again guys

If you are doing this swap then it is my opinion the harness should not be much trouble for you if you were to tackle it yourself. Just match pins and add wiring as necessary. As far as the flash you can do it with hp tuners however you are going to have to get a license for both the pcm and tcm. If I were doing it my direction of attack would be to flash the pcm and tcm for a vette with an auto trans and using the same VIN for one vehicle. This way there should not be any question of the two modules communicating correctly.

I'd be interested in buying your current harness and PCM since I just picked up a 06 Vette LS2 with no PCM or harness. I will be going with 6 Speed. Maybe you can use the money towards your wiring set up for an auto.
