questions for 240sx ls1 swap
so i am thinking about this swap after i tallied up the cost of a 2jz swap but i think i can do the ls1 for the same or less.i have a 95 s14. so i was wondering were could get some mounts that use rubber and were i can get the wiring done. also what else is a problem with these swaps? i have heard that the tranny tunnel might need to get modified to fit the engine/tranny were it is up and back were i want it. i was also wondering were i can find good motor sets at. (not a big fan of ebay) i would like to get a ls2 or really nice ls1, might even do a 6.0 but i don't know how much more weight it will be. i also haven't really had time to do alot of research as i haven't had time so all help is appreciated.

I have been considering the same thing lately as i have a spare LS1 block and Built TH400 I want to stick in something light to make a drag car. This is what i have gathered thus far...... (so don't take every bit of this as gospel)
Iron block is 75lbs more. You can look around here (LS1tech) for a good motor. There is a guy on the East coast that sells LQ9/4 short blocks for $450, just add L92 heads ($800 w/ .600 springs) & L76 intake ($520 fully dressed) and you are good to go on that front. There was a completely BONE STOCK LQ9 posted today that put down 800+HP with a turbo on 19psi I believe.

Yes the tunnel sheetmetal needs to be massaged a bit. Depends on what tranny you are going to use. T-56-4L60E-Th400/350-Powerglide?
As far as wieght goes, they say the LS1 adds a mere 35lbs to the car over the stock KA.
For $$ you will also have to take the rear-end into consideration. It will not hold anything over 400ft lbs. for long. Z32 or 350Z center section swaps can be used here from what i hear. I havent looked into a solid rear swap yet. Maybe Ford 8.8 will fit the bill as the car is around 2800lbs with a LS1 swap.

i wouldnt mind pics. i am not sure about the tranny but i will just have to see what i can get as a motor set for a good price or just peice it together. i really like the looks of the pxracing mount thanks. i am sure i will have to do some drive train work but i just want to get it running and then mod later. i am definitely going to do some rear end work and some bracing.

i was scared of the wiring at first but after reading the FAQ here, it one of the easiest parts of the swap. dont worry about the wiring.
search for "240sx ls1" or "s13 ls1" or "s14 ls1" on these forums and you will find alot on info.

hinson supercars, sikky and pxracing all make mount kits. pxracing is the cheapest at $650. wait4me performane will wire your harness and reflash the pcm for $320 - pxracing will rewire the harness for $175.
from my understanding the tranny tunnel doesn't have to be worked as long as you x-member is notched or spaced, you're using a ls1 GTO oil pan allowing the motor to be mounted low enough and far enough forward. CarshopInc.com is a member on here and sells universal ls1 engine mounts that a lot of guys on silviav8.com use (just cut to the place you want and weld em on).
If you want to go 6.0 pm LS240sx. He had a 408ci s14 used an lq9 block. Don't quote me on this without asking him but i believe the 408ci setup ran a 12.0 and that was his daily driver.

There are plenty of guys running that on stock rear end.
R200 is strong. Getting a LSD would help put the power to both wheels.
Z32 uses same R200 in non-turbo models, and turbo R230 doesn't work in S-chassis. So I'd double check where you're getting your info from.
