Default Question on reluctor ring

Guys, I'm doing an LS swap into a genesis coupe and I am trying to resolve the tach issue being that the genesis uses can bus gauges.

This is the description of the reluctor ring directly out of the genesis service manual: "The target wheel consists of 58 slots and 2 missing slots on 360 CA (Crank Angle)"

Would this description fit the GM 58x wheel? If so, does the diameter of the ring matter or is it the number of slots that is the main issue?

My thought here is to adapt the GM 58x ring onto the harmonic balancer to pick up the signal for the tach using the genesis ECU.

The GM ECU will handle all other duties.

Yes, it is the same style 58x wheel. there are many after market target wheels that bolt to the balancer (google or ebay)

Appreciate the response, so am I to assume that diameter has no bearing on how it reads? Reason I ask, is that the trigger wheel on the genesis sits next to the clutch and is quite a bit larger than the GM unit

The diameter will make no difference.

So apparently I suck at googling. I can find lots of target wheels (reluctors) but not finding much in terms of bolt on to the balancer style.

Appreciate the link, but they don't offer 58x which is what I would need. I'll keep searching

58x is the same as a 60-2 trigger wheel.

Holley makes a bolt on 58 tooth wheel.

It's a gen III running a 24x reluctor, but I need a 58x to mount on the balancer to run the tach through the original ECU.

Follow up question....since I'm only using this trigger wheel to get a signal to the tach can I just attach the wheel to the balancer and call it good, or do I still need to worry about TDC?

My thinking is I should just be able to bolt on and go?

You can prolly get a tach signal off the alternator, have you checked into this? Would be much easier than what you are attempting...

How would I go about pulling a signal from the alternator to drive a Hyundai canbus gauge? Now I'm curious.

Hmm, missed the part about the canbus. Prolly cannot be converted, but check with Dakota Digital just to be sure. They have a lot of signal conditioning/conversion boxes...
