Looks like I will need a new drivers side tail light. And are those rear quarters removable, it's caved in pretty far, oak trees don't forgive much

You can see the tree he found in the last photo.

it looks like there might be a decent crease going through that, it might be hard to work that out....might need to look into getting that back piece of a salvage fender

Unhappy Quarter panel

Hi, From the pics I think a good body shop can fix the 1/4 panel !! Looks like an easy fix to me, but i,m a body man. They can fix it & not put on a new 1/4 panel, if they know what they doing!! Hope the tree OK!! LOL

Yep, I told him he had better learn from it... that we all are due a wreck once every ten years so.... that and I told him about my putting dad's 69 Landcrusier through a hiway sign on the on ramp cause I took it to fast when I was 16. Good thing the signs were up with wood posts back then.

I drive this car very hard, it was a matter of time before something happened to it anyway.

That would be nice, I had assumed it was going to need the qtr cut and replaced.

That's a bummer.

Looks like the fender wrinkled a tad near the gas filler door, the gap to the deck lid isn't straight anymore. Does the driver's door still shut normally? A good body shop might be able to get most of the close-range damage undone, but removing a down-range wrinkle could be some work. Would probably be a better fix w/ a whole new fender. Only way to avoid having it mudded, and considering it's a SE and not a plain-'ol Z28, I wouldn't want mud in it. If insurance is covering it, I'd insist on a whole new fender, bumper cover and tail-light lens.

Good luck.

I remember the day I had my first accident, rear-ended another car w/ my (then dad's) '68 Cutlass. Needed a hood repaint and front bumper. I've still never lived that one down.

Well, I went and had to estimates on repair.

Both were to replace the rear bumper cover, the berger panel, taillight, no replacement of the qtr panel.

Anyway, the cost estimates were 3,000 on one and 3,200 on the other.

In case anyone is interested, a new qtr panel is avail from what one shop told me, cost for the panel is 900.
